Facebook Chat Question -

So there is this kid who talks to me every time I come on facebook and asks me to hang and its gotten pretty annoying and so I put myself as offline for chat for the time being.
Well for some reason he knows when I'm online still and tries to talk to me. I'll come on facebook but I'll still be set as offline for chat yet I will get a notification for my messages saying he tried sending a chat to me. Does anyone know why am I not offline to him? You are offline, that's why it goes to your inbox instead of the little pop-up thing. Why don't you just block him?

Are you posting on walls or doing something that shows up in friend's news feeds? That might be how he can tell you are online.
As for chat, you can make a list of just him--you can change what he sees on your profile. You can then always set it to be that he cannot see your availability on chat (it is like a block/invisible list on AIM). The notification is part of what Facebook changed--instead of not being able to message offline, it now forwards it to your inbox. Most likely what Nikki said. If you're posting a status or something on a friend's wall, it's obvious that you're online.

The thing is, I don't. I come on and like instantly he messages me. Thats whats so confusing :/ and it says "a few seconds ago" so I know its when I get on.

Why don't you just delete him though? If he's annoying you and you don't want to talk to him, just block him.

Oh alright. Well I'm not really sure, maybe it's like AIM where it shows you online as soon as you go on, and then you're offline like a second later.
