Not receiving Facebook messages

A couple months ago, I was checking facebook on my cell phone and saw I had a new message from a few days ago. I thought it was weird I hadn't received an email about it. When I tried to open it, the facebook app on my phone crashed. I went on my laptop, iPod and desktop, the message didn't even show up on those.
At the time, I contacted facebook, and never heard anything in response.
Today I was on facebook on my phone again, only to find I have a second message, from a different person. The exact same problem is happening with this one, and first one is still sitting there unopened.
I'm pretty sure the first person is an elementary school friend I haven't talked to for 10 years, so I'd like to see how he's doing! and when I search his name, he doesn't show up =( The person who sent the second message is just a stranger and their name just shows up as "facebook user" so I can't and don't care to search them.
I contacted facebook again today, but have a feeling I won't hear back. I've had a facebook account for at least 2 years and messages have worked fine till now. I haven't changed any settings, but checked my settings just in case. I looked through all their tips, suggestions and FAQs under Help. I've googled it, and not getting answers from anywhere.
Any ideas?!

Hey,

I honestly think it's just Facebook being glitchy. This tends to happen everytime they introduce something new. I'd say just give it a while and see if it sorts itself out.

Is there anyway you could try reading the message using your phone and replying that way?

No =( on my phone I've tried opening each message around 7 times, and every single time the app crashes.

How about trying to go on someone else's phone or on someone else's computer to check out the message? Also, I would try using a different browser.

Ok I've now tried on Firefox and Internet Explorer. I figured since it didn't work on my laptop or desktop, it wouldn't work anywhere else, but I think my boyfriend has google chrome, so maybe trying a different browser on a different computer will do something. Gah =/
