Non-PG13 (Strong Language): My Lenovo laptop is being a fucking douche.

I have no idea what I did to screw my computer up even worse. But last night, for a while now actually because of a bad virus I had caught that we erased twice, my webcam wouldn't work except for Skype, and neither would some of my applications. So I tried to install a video/camera application for my webcam from the Lenovo website to try and fix it, I had to uninstall the webcam. Nothing wrong with that, wasn't working right anyways. But the thing I was trying to install didn't work. Then my Mozilla wasn't working, so I uninstalled it, and I'm just using IE. Well now I can't download, or open anything without a stupid fucking program. Which doesn't work, by the way.

So, I try and open some files. When I press run, it pops up what program I want to use to run it. So I press IE, since it's the only logical one out of them all. And then an IE window pops up, it immediately closes, and then a window pops up saying that IE stopped working.
Like, I'm homeschooled. My mom doesn't know I'm kind of far behind on my schoolwork, so I was going to work on it. Nope, the fucking window popped up, exited out, and did all it's bullshit. Sometimes when I'm just on the internet, it says IE stopped working, but yet I can still use it. The hell?!

I tried to System Restore, but it just restored the uninstalled camera shit. So I can't open anything, my internet's screwed up, and I can't download anything to fix it. Oh, did I mention it'd probably cost about $80 to fix from Lenovo, and that's before the installing/downloading shit started acting up?

Yeah, like we're made out of fucking money. God. Anyways, does anyone know what this could've been from, and what I could do to fix it? And I can't restore it back to the factory settings, I don't have the CD.

Er, Levono what? What's the model of the laptop?

And basically, you're just trying to reset your computer to factory settings, right?


Backup, Backup, Backup
Backup all of your important files, like documents, pictures, videos, whatever you think you don't want to lose.

New User Account
You can try creating a new user account for your computer and see if that solves the problem. Chances are slim, but it's worth a try. Besides, this only take a few minutes at most.

Doesn't solve the problem? That's fine! Like I said before, chances are slim. Moving on . . .


OneKey Recovery
If your Levono laptop (again, what's the model?) is one of those with the "OneKey recovery" option, then you can follow the guide here to use it.


System Recovery from Recovery Partition
If it doesn't have OneKey Recovery, then you would have to manually start System Recovery (because you don't have the CD). Do you have a recovery partition?

If you do, then running System Recovery would be our choice. This might take a few hours.

1. Back up your files.
2. Restart your computer.
3. As your computer starting up again, keep hitting F11 (this might be different depending on the manufacturer, but I believe Levono set it to F11) to start System Recovery.
4. Select what you want to do and run it. Full recovery should take a few hours. (Note: All of your data will be erased. So make sure that you have done step 1: Backup your files.)

I hope you won't have to go this far, but if you know for sure that you have a working recovery partition yet you're unable to access Recovery mode no matter what you try, then you can install a Linux distro (like Ubuntu) to take advantage of its GRUB bootloader to access your Windows Recovery. (Ubuntu is fun to use alongside Windows anyway.)

Alternatively, you can also use Super Grub2 Disk to access Windows Recovery. But again, I doubt we have to go that far.

Oh sorry, it's a Lenovo IdeaPad Z560.

I may have to do that, because someone told me I may have a virus, but I can't install anything to get rid of it. I have AVG, but it's not fending it off if I do have one. So I'd need something to get rid of it, and I can't. Sooo, thanks for that information. ^_^

I thought you said that you've gotten rid of the virus?


Anyhow, I took a look at that IdeaPad Z560 on Levono's website and apparently the OneKey Recovery button is located on the left side, above the keyboard.

Is that correct?

And here's the latest driver for that OneKey Recovery, if you need it. (That one is for 64-bit Windows 7, by the way, which I assume is what you have, based on info from Levono website; for 32-bit system, go here instead.)

By the way, once you're done fixing this, you might want to post back about the antivirus options. I believe we have a few better options than AVG that we can recommend for you.

Sounds like you have a famous malwale running with your OS, if you boot your system in Safe Mode there's a chance everything will start working as normal again. If you do try Safe Mode, and things do work again then you'll need to install some Anti-Virus scanners while in Safe Mode with Networking and scan the system there. This is one possibility out of many, but you seriously do sound like you have something I've seen and fixed before.

Also, just like to point out System Restore does nothing to remove viruses it just undos any install/uninstall of applictions.
