Loud, screeching interference -
March 16th 2009, 12:07 AM
Hey, basically, when I'm on my phone, either my mobile or my wired house phone, I can hear a screechingly loud interference that makes it downright impossible to hear what people are saying.
I turned my monitor and computer off, even my router, despite the fact that this has never happened before with it on and it just started a couple of days ago.
Its not constant either, its on and off, at complete random. It sounds kinda like the sound you get when you put your mobile phone close to your speakers and you hear a sound, its that just about ten times louder, and its getting really annoying since I can't hear what people are saying.
I've checked around, tried unplugging all electrical devices in my room, even tried going to the ground floor, (I'm on the second) and it still presists, and I've tried running google searches and stuff, and quite frankly, I'm baffled. I have no idea, and I'm started to regret not taking some sort of course in electronics...
Anyone got any idea what it could be?

Thing is, it happens both on my landline and my mobile phone, and the other person insists that I'm the only one with whom she gets the problem, plus she can't hear the noise, just me.
I'm guessing there's a massive source of electromagnetic radiation near me that popped up recently, but I've quite literally scoured the whole house for possible causes.
I've checked my whole room. I do have alot of electronic devices in my room, alot of which can produce such interference, like my router, my snake's thermostat, my CRT monitor (I've tried repeatedly manually degaussing it, to no affect), my printer, but the thing is, this only started in the last couple of days and nothings changed position or setting or anything.

"Massive source of electromagnetic radiation"? ie your phone? What phone do you have? Might be time for a replacement...
None of those things should be producing any interference, except perhaps the monitor - but barely. Do you know if any phone antennas were set up nearby, like next door??? Any large speakers like TV's that are kept plugged in constantly Otherwise it might, just might be a weird form of tinnitus

dude, its your electronic government implant...
being serious for a sec, ask the flatmates, if they aren't having the same problem with the landline, it could just be something unexplainable. For the mobile, could be something wrong with it

See, I'm starting to suspect that it is actually something on the other person's end, since I actually got the screeching sound again when I was on my mobile and instead of being in my room, this time I was just driving past the houses of parliment and crossing the Thames.
And I know its not my mobile since I can make calls to other people absolutely fine.
