How do i fix my iPod touch screen? -

How do I fix my iPod touch screen? Its cracked in several places, and my earbud jack or port whatever is messed up. It only plays one earbud half the time. So, how can i fix them? (NOTE: I don't have the apple care warranty.)

You can go into an apple store and they will attempt to fix it for a price. I'm not sure you will have much luck fixing the jack port but I've stumbled across a couple of tutorials online as to how to replace screens. Just google it and you should get a wealth of responses.

Eh, short answer, you don't. Replacing the screen is not easy, and, it's not cheap to have done professionaly. You'll likely be better off getting a new one, or a used one.
As for the audio jack, are you sure it's not the headphones themselves - have you tried a different pair? |

If you are within your one year warranty, you can take it to the genius bar at an apple store. I know cracked screen isn't covered, but the audio jack being messed up IS. See if they will replace it...I recently washed my ipod in the washing machine by accident and it was severly water damaged, and I took it and they said "well, water damage isn't normally covered but since it was an accident, I will do it for you." And they replaced my ipod for free. I just had to wait until the next day because they needed to order one in, they didn't have my model in stock.
Give it a try...it's worth it. You never know until you ask, and the worst they can say is no. If you can't do that, I would just go online and buy a used one for cheap...lots of people sell their old I-touch's for cheap when they get iphones and stuff. My Ipod touch screen cracked quite severely. It is expensive to get them replaced: Apple quoted me for about £80 over the phone and a repair shop near me quoted £70. |

If the screen is cracked, I'm assuming it was due to a drop or something? That could cause the headphone jack issue as well.
Testing different headphones is a good idea, but it it is an issue with the iPod and not headphones. Solution-You can see how much they would charge to repair it...but if you are not under warranty it might be worth it to get a new one. Look into getting a quote from the Apple store or a local store that repairs iPods. You should invest in a case-one that protects at least some against drops. Contact Apple i know they can offer you a replacement for less then it would be to buy i new one think its like $120
