Headphones - August 10th 2011, 09:43 PM

I'm going to buy myself a decent pair of headphones. I keep buying really cheap pairs and they break within a few months or sound horrible -_____-

I'm willing to pay about £20-£30. I'm not getting ridiculously over-priced headphones just because it has Lady GaGa's name on the box.

I want anything that sounds good and is cheap basically

Edit: Oh, I don't want a pair which leaks either >.> That really annoys me. I don't want to be listening to music on the bus and have someone hear every lyric.

If you want a truly good set of headphones, you will be paying a lot more than just 20-30 Euros. It also depends on an few things, do you like listening to music that is loud? If so, cheap headphones will not last, as they cannot handle the pressures created by turning up the volume.

It all depends what you're wanting, if you want loud music, then you'll need to spend more for drivers that can handle the dB pressures. If you want something cheap, you'll end up with lower quality audio, and, likely they won't last as long, and will certainly not handle the volume.

As for "leak" - there really isn't going to be a fix for this, other than turning down the volume. Sound works by vibrating air. In order to stop said vibration, you need purpose built sound dampening equipment, such as thick foam, which aren't really going to work on even full-size studio headsets.

I kinda need to know more in order to have any suggestions.

It depends on the song. I have to play certain songs (like Michael Jackson - Dirty Diana) extremely loud for some reason

I used to use the memory foam ones. I think they were JVC ones. They lasted about a year till they broke. I know have some sony ones, they are in ear ones too. And they have lasted me so far 6 months, and still work. They cost about £15.

First of all do you put your iPod in your back pocket when listening to music? If you do I am almost 99% sure that is why the head phones break so much. And if you are like me and can't get out of the habit of doing that I would stick to buying the cheaper pairs because you'll just end up breaking the more expensive ones eventually too.

But if not just ignore this

As the smoke clears
I awaken, and untangle you from me
Would it make you, feel better to watch me while I bleed?
All my windows, still are broken
But I'm standing on my feet

I always find that in- ear headphones are good cos you can listen to music louder without people around you hearing compared to regular ones.

On another note: I don't know if they are good or not but I sooooooo want a pair of these.... or these..... or these..... from Accessorize!

Skullcandy! I love that brand--they are not too pricy depending on what type you are looking at and they are really good. There is a lifetime warranty-if they break due to regular use, they give you 1/2 off your next purchase, if they break due to manufacturer's error they will give you credit to buy one worth the same price.
Agreed with others about good pairs cost more.
Also, if your music isn't legal/it is downloaded, there is a high chance that it is the song and not your headphones. Some songs don't get put at the right volume level and that is why you have to turn up/down your volume.
