How to surf the web w/o leaving any trace -
August 18th 2011, 01:36 AM
This is just for those who don't want their friends or family to know what they have been looking up online. I for example use it for this website or when I look up embarrassing stuff. This is especially good for those who share their computers. It makes it so your browser doesn't save any history or cookies from the visited websites (This also means reentering website urls and passwords every time you use it)
Plugins and such are disabled. This means that certain implemented safety features are also disabled!!!! Here are images of the 3 main browsers and what you have to click to activate private browsing. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...defirefox.png/ http://imageshack.us/f/707/incognitowindowgogglech.png/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...ernetexpl.png/ |

To make this guide of yours complete, I suggest adding how to remove flash cookies and DNS cache, too. Also, this is supposed to be a guide about surfing the web without leaving any trace, not just removing your browsing history, right? In that case, shouldn't VPN, virtual machine, Tor, etc. be mentioned? ![]() |

Actually, there is literally zero privacy on the internet; this is especially the case when it comes to emails. When you visit a website, your computer is not directly linking to any specific web server (The computer which hosts the web page) - it has to pass through many different devices to reach a different location in the world. Each of these devices logs information that passes through. Your own router can be setup to log some of the information that is passed through it, and anyone who knows what they're doing could get information from these logs.
As long as you're doing nothing illegal, you'll have no issues, and nobody should be intruding on the tidbits of information that is collected, however, if, you're trying to erase or cover your tracks for other reasons, such as, illicit activity, there's literally no way to truly cover your tracks nor be anonymous. |
