So, my mom bought a phone off of some guy in our family. It's a MetroPCS phone. A company, for those who do not know, is a very cheap prepaid service. $40 - unlimited everything. A few minutes ago, my mom called me and told me that the guy's daughter was threatening her to have it traced and taken away from me. My question here is, can it even be traced? Can they take it from me? I really need my phone

If the guy actually owned the phone, and not his daughter, nothing can be done. He gave you possession of his property - it is yours now.
Most phones CAN be traced....but it' costs $200+ to do so. And it goes through the police and phone service and they have to have valid reason. A stolen phone will not be traced. A phone with a missing person on the end, yes. Hope this helps

The phone was bought, hence "you paid money". She cant take it back unless you want a refund ( which you don't want because you said " I need my phone")
