ebook/PDF reader - August 28th 2011, 12:39 PM

I'm looking for a relatively cheap PDF reader for my dad for Christmas something under £50 would be good.

Could an awesome person tell me of any decent ones?

Honestly, there aren't any good ones. Usually if you want to read PDFs you get a Tablet (like iPad), Android phone, iPod Touch, or even a netbook.

The PDF Readers out right now are expensive and unreliable. They make the document smaller and less quality, because you have to download it onto a computer, THEN transfer it to the reader. It has to lose quality to put it on the reader.

Then you have a tiny, crappy looking PDF.

So I suggest something that could read PDFs but do other things too. Android phones are great for just about everything, or an iPhone, iPad, iPod.

Best of luck.

Edit: Realized you said e-book reader too...
http://ebook-reader-review.toptenreviews.com/ There is the top 10 e-books I do suggest a Kindle or Nook.

Lol I know...you could always try ebay, amazon (used), or craigslist. Used ones are generally still good

Just so you know, eBook reader and PDF reader are not interchangaeble terms. They are different! There are many other eBook formats (like AZW or EPUB).

Which one are you looking for anyway? EBook reader or PDF reader? Reading through the thread makes no sense to me at all.

If you're looking for an eBook reader, then I suggest that you just buy what your dad likes, since you already know what he likes anyway. If you're going to buy him something that he dislike, then it's better to not buy anything at all and save both you and him the time and money. Plus, that defeats the purpose of a present.

It's just my personal opinion, but . . . it's pointless to give a present just because you need to have a present.

I figure that you don't have enough money. That's okay! Choose something else. You don't have to actually pick an eBook reader for him.

You could always give him a gift card for amazon or walmart or wherever else he may use it with a large variety of gifts. Just be sure to personalize a card, otherwise some people think that's not a thoughtful gift.

So, write a lengthy note in the card with the gift card That way he can get himself what he wants, but still get the sentiments from you
