Can I get this? - September 22nd 2011, 06:50 AM

Ok, basically I'm wondering if there is a program I can get for free which will act like those blocks on webpages at school. Is there something I could get which would stop me accessing certain webpages or things using certain keywords or something? Preferably that needs a password to be removed.

You can try OpenDNS. Their website is their name with .com after. They might have what you are looking for. I do believe this is free.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

You could try Any WeBlock.

Windows 7 (possible Vista) has an inbuilt function that supports what you're looking for. And if your router is got it, you can block website/keywords there which would block it on any device on the same network.

Thanks, guys.

I wouldn't want to block all devices, just my laptop which is on the family's network.

I have windows 7, how would I access this inbuilt thing?

My apologies, I automatically assumed Parental Controls had this feature in-built into the OS. I was slightly wrong. You need to download and install this, and then you can do it: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-family-safety

Once installed you use your Live ID I believe to get Admin access to it (if not, you use your Windows password (which needs to be set)). And then you can control it by going to Start Orb > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety
