UGHH file question - October 5th 2011, 02:39 PM

I am trying to put a quicktime movie file in a dropbox on dropbox.com, but everytime I put the file in the dropbox, it opens as a text-edit file rather than a quicktime one. On my computer, it opens as a quicktime; it is only when I download it that it opens as a text edit. I AM SO FRUSTRATED. Any solutions? <3

Try this- check what the extension is before you put it on dropbox (.avi, .mov, etc). If you cannot find the extension, look at the file details and you should be able to see what the extension is. After you download it from dropbox, see if the extension changed. If so, just change it back to what it was. For example, if it is .avi and downloads as .txt, then just change the .txt part to be .avi.

If this is not changed, try seeing what the default program to open it is. If this is set to text edit, then change it to quicktime.

I just tried this on my computer, but it doesn't come up with the same thing as yours.
