MacBook Pro charger not working -
November 19th 2011, 08:58 PM
I have a 13" macbook pro and early this morning I plugged it into the charger and it didn't work. The little light didn't come on, and the battery symbol on my screen didn't say it was charging. I've tried a different plug, taking it off of the extension thing, and moving around the cord to check for a short in the wiring. Nothing has worked.
Does anyone know why my charger would suddenly stop working? Or a way I could possibly fix it? A new charger is 80$ and I do not have that kind of money. |

This normally means it is dead. How long have you had this charger and does it get put to use (as in goes where you go etc)? If you have had it for over 2 years, there is a high chance it is just done.
My charger light rarely comes on. I found that I have to sometimes fiddle with the spot where it connects to the computer for it to charge. Also, if the connection between the part that lights up and the cord is worn (bent, torn, ripping, etc), then this is also a sign it needs to be replaced. You can take it into the Apple store and ask if you can "recycle" your charger. I'm not sure, but they might give you a discount on a new charger. When buying a new charger, make sure to read the models it is for (they have different ones for different size laptops). Leave the past behind, just walk away When it's over, and the heart break And the cracks begin to show *~*~This little girl was alone in the world~*~* Hold Onto Hope |

Do you have the T charger or the long skinny one? Cuz apple is recalling the old chargers and sending out new ones to the people who have the T chargers i just got my replacement the other day at the apple store. You can also call applecare and they can send you one free of charge if you dont have an Apple Store near you. By the way chargers are covered under your warrenty if you still have it!

I've had it less than a year, and I don't really take the charger anywhere unless I'm going on vacation or something. I haven't done anything to it ever that would make me believe I've damaged it...
I have the long skinny one, not the T charger. |
