ModCloth issues and reviews - August 30th 2013, 09:16 PM

Anyone else have problems with is site? I have ordered stuff 2 or 3 times and always had to send everything back. This is a giant issue cause I am Canadian, let's talk about customs fees and international shipping costs, urgh.... Either the stuff fit WAY smaller then claimed OR it was just of really low quality, and if I am paying $30+ for an item I expect it to be something decent looking, not some cheap looking piece of crap. I got other items where the threading was coming loose or a purse with a rip in it....

But "people" (AKA strangers on the internet) seem to love modcloth... So what is it about my choices in orders where I always end up with low quality items? I've read one review where the writer said that as long as polyester wasn't listed as one of the materials the ordered items usually pulled through looking of good quality.

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues?

I've only bought a pair of shoes from Modcloth, but they turned out alright. I have skipped out on buying things though, from either word of mouth or just assuming things were lesser quality.
I would suggest not buying things unless they have reviews. Most people that review on Modcloth are really detailed.

Sorry I couldn't be there, I was tied to a rocking chair.

Which is what I've done before, the reviews were good... And when I got it then it was hard for me not to wonder if they were keeping the mass amount of bad reviews off or something :s

I've never bought anything myself but I have heard a lot of people (on tumblr mostly) say that they feel the items are low quality as well.

It seems weird that all the reviews would be good though since often reviews are bias towards the negative side of things because people are more likely to complain if something's bad than praise something that's good. So maybe you're right about them trying to stop bad reviews going through. Perhaps if someone posts a bad review the site moderates it and instead of posting it they just email the person back and try to work things out with them to prevent a bad review being counted against them? Just a thought.
