Color pigment in eyeliner? - November 16th 2013, 01:50 AM

Hi all!

Recently I connected my eye pain to this color eyeliner, or I think I did. I get eye pain sometimes that almost feels like sinus pain, as well as redness, and it's in both eyes when I get it. I noticed that any time I wear this color eyeliner, my eyes tend to hurt the most, and that's when I notice the pain the most. I hadn't had eye pain in over two weeks because I hadn't wore this eyeliner, and today I had the pain.

It's not the brand (AVON) because other colors in the same brand work fine, it's just this one.

Do you think that it is the color pigment, another chemical, or something that's doing it? I know you're not doctors or anything but hey, maybe you know.

If it is, there are gillions of ingredients to look out for. What ingredient should I avoid in my eyeliner products if it possibly is this one? I'm sure some of you out there must have sensitive eyes.

I like this shade, though, my eyes just hurt!

Let it come and let it be...

Hmm...I dunno what ingredient it might be, because you're right, there are many ingredients in eyeliner and they're usually somewhat difficult to find. It probably isn't good at all to continue wearing that eyeliner as both the eyes and the skin around them are very delicate.

However I know that drugstore brands such as Physician's Formula and Almay cater specifically towards sensitive skin, so if you like, you might want to look at eyeliners by them.

I'm sorry I could help more, just wanted to let you know about that ^^

Hey there,
I think this could be a possible reaction to an ingredient in the eye liner. However I'm not a 100% sure on what the ingredient is. I would suggest maybe trying another brand of that same color shade and seeing if you're eyes are still feeling that way. Another thing about makeup is that if it's really old, it can cause skin problems to some extent. How long have you had that eyeliner? Did you have it for a really long time or buy it recently? If you've had it for a long time, I'd suggest that you buy a new one since keeping old makeup and using it on the skin isn't a very healthy thing to do. If it still causes you problems, I suggest that you talk to a makeup specialist or maybe a doctor about this? Hope this helps.
