Decent clothes for low prices? - July 20th 2009, 05:32 AM

So, I've gone to private school the past few years of my life, and next year is public school for me. So, two words: New clothes.

The only problem is that I need a LOT of new clothes. I seriously have about 10 shirts and two pairs of jeans that I wear repeatedly, and unfortunately I don't think wearing the same shirt every other day sounds to awesome to me.

But we don't have to much money to spend, as we run on a tight budget. I need at least two more pairs of pants, maybe just one, and a lot of shirts.

So I just need some tips. How can I get stuff that looks nice but doesn't cost a lot, so that I can get a lot of clothes without spending a lot of money? And are there any stores online (or not online, whichever) that have decently priced clothes?

Anyone who replies to this is truly a lifesaver

Ross is awesome, especially if you find one near a mall because usually they will buy out the mall's surplus. They usually have bigger selections too, and the prices are cheaper.

Ross, like mentioned, is great for cute clothes on a budget. I also like Gabriel Brothers. Old Navy is pretty cheap too and their clothes are cute. You can try outlet stores, too. :]

Old Navy. Their prices are pretty decent and their clothes are super cute.

Have you tried Wal-Mart and Target? (Target is probably slightly more expensive than Wal-Mart) You can get decent jeans and even some cute tops at either of those places.

I don't know if you have Gabriel Brothers in your state. Ross is good, also.

Also, honestly? Salvation army/Goodwill/your local Mission. I know loads of people who get clothes from those places--I've even found some nice stuff there. And, sure, it can be annoying to rummage through racks of clothes but the price might be worth it.

There's lots of different places that you can go to for cheap and stylish clothes!

First of all I highly recommend Ross. Ross buys the surplus of other stores and slightly defected designer clothes (don't let the word "defect" get you though, since it is rarely obvious as to what is wrong with it in the first place) and sells them at a cheaper price. You do need patience when you shop there since a lot of nice clothes are harder to find.

Target is a great place to buy very stylish clothes for the fraction of the price. Designers like Vera Wang have collaborated with the store to produce great clothes for affordable prices.

I heard you needed pants and great places to get affordable jeans are Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. I just recently bought two pairs of jeans for 12.00 each and they're wonderful! They've also got a great assortment of clothes there that sell for decent prices.

H&M is a great place to go to also for cute clothes. It's similar to Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe, although it can be a bit more pricey. However, H&M has some great unique pieces and they've collaborated with a few designers themselves like Hugo Boss, Karl Lagerfield, and many more so you know that you'll be getting your money's worth.

Keep your eye out for sales too! They can be a great money saver and get you great clothes at the same time. I recently went to Urban Outfitters to go window shopping. At UO their clothes are usually too expensive for me to buy: a shirt for $30.00 and a jacket for $60.00, however they were having a great red tag sale plus 50% off. I got a shirt and shawl originally $60.00 for 10 bucks!!! UO is a great place to go to during sales because when they have them, they cut their prices like crazy.

Of course there's also online shopping where you can find more unique clothes, sales, and things that are more to your taste, but you'll have to look around for those. I suggest going to fashion websites like chictopia.com and looking at people to see which clothes you like. Usually they post links to where they bought their clothes!

Happy shopping!

Charity shops and sales are always a good place to start, you can find really good clothes for bargain prices.
With sales, you really need to rummage, so be prepared for a full day of shopping [:
