hey i'm thinking about getting this prom dress in the colour 'taupe'
when you select it on the website it looks different to real life because the colour is photoshopped on, but you can get the gist anyway ive got longish blonde hair and blue eyes.. will this colour and style suit me? :/ and is it too formal for a prom do you think, seeing as its a bridesmaid dress in the first place? opinions pleaseeeeeeeee xxhttp://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/2749/ ♥ Saphire

I don't think it's too formal for prom! At least not here in the US!
It's a beautiful, beautiful dress!!! The color is okay, but that's only because there are SO many other colors I'd choose over it. If you like it though, go for it! There is always hope. PM me anytime. SH Free since 10.20.08 |

I love it!
Like hopefaithlove said, it's not to formal. A lot of girls go with dresses like that anyway .Maybe if you think the colour doesn't suit you, you can try a colour that you've tried on before, or a colour you know suits you and pick that one. But I think it will suit you anyhow .Again, I have to mention, I love the dress!

That dress is gorgeous btw
And I think that dress is a big yes to wear to prom I once knew a girl that wore a wedding dress to prom here in the uk :/The only thing i'd say is try it on first, because i don't think that colour would yno make your hair and eyes stand out? Thats my view, im blonde and blue eyed to, and usally purples/reds/burgandys are best for us blonde haired blue eyed beautys. ![]() I founds something that might be of assiacent to you ![]() IF YOUR HAIR IS DIRTY/GOLDEN BLONDE: Choose earth tones in clothing. Look for rich dark browns, olive or moss greens, sunset orange, rust and camel. Avoid grays, navys and pinks, they will make you look lifeless. Wear black only for pants or skirts. IF YOUR HAIR IS HONEY/FLAXEN BLON Choose ivory, apricot, beige, corals, tans, milk chocolate browns, violet blues and golden yellows in clothing colors. Marine blue and warm grays will work for you too. Avoid black and blue reds, which will make your skin seem sallow. |

I love it! It's very pretty and not at all too formal. I agree with everyone else when I say that I think you should try on some and see what color looks best on you.

I really like it, not too formal at all
Personally, I'm unsure on the colour but I think you would have to try it on anyway so you could try a few different colours! x

I love the dress. Not too sure about the colour. I'd have thought a pale pink or blue would look better.

Re: Opinions on this prom dress... -

I don't think it is too formal. I wore a full length bridesmaid dress for my prom and I was worried I would be too formal. Only about 10 other people wore full length dresses but it wasn't too formal and I wasn't the more formal looking, one girl wore a tiara so I felt more relaxed when I got there.
Me and my boyfriend were probably the most formal couple though because he wore a Tux and other boys wore a normal suit. Together we looked like we were getting married and I did feel uncomfortable as first being so formal but once we got there we both forgot about it because we were having fun. I love the dress and it's shape but I don't like the colour. I think if you have blonde hair and blue eyes then you are probably pale like me. I know if I wore a dress like that I would look even paler and ill, it would just wash me out. I think you need a warmer colour. This is a picture of my dress just to give you some ideas as I am blonde and blue eyes too. ![]()

Ooh, that's purty.
I like it. It doesn't look too formal or anything, and I reckon it'll suit you.

There were tonnes of bright orange girls at my prom. I had one spray tan a few months before my prom as a test run and I decided to stick with being pale rather than orange. All the other girls got there's that morning and it looked ok then but it got darker over time and they look hilarious by the time the prom came. |

Yeah, I'm getting a spray tan before my prom but I wasn't sure how long before you should get one? 2 days or 3 maybe? I don't know about your school particularly but at mine loads of people wear long formal dresses like that. Mine is short though and red
I also have blonde hair/blue eyes

Get a spray tan done as a 'practice run' 3-4 weeks before, honestly. As Rachel said at my prom there were so many badly fake tanned orange, streaky girls it was ridiculous. If it goes badly it won't matter, and at least you'll have an idea of how it looks. Before your prom I'd get the tan 3 days before to give it time to fade if it looks bad (exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate if it does!)

I find it to be an absolutely beautiful dress. Its not too formal at all. And if it it to other people. Who cares. You like you wear it.
My prom is this Saturday and I think my dress might be too poofy but I love it and I am going to rock it... hopefully Always remember to put your happiness first.

My friends are going for a tester tan in a few days but im gonna just wait to see how theirs goes first because i dont want to go to school orange! so if theirs goes ok ill do a tester on in a few weeks, then see after how many days i like the colour, and do exactly the same for my prom

Go light on the acessories. If you do a necklace make it simple but outstanding but no braclet and if earings make them studded no danglies. If you opt no necklace, do earrings and a bracelet. As color shoe I will look at the color again and get back to you.
With jewelry you don't want to do too much. In this case less is more. I will post prom pics most likely sometime next week. And ill link you the dress in your page. Always remember to put your happiness first.

You can either play it up really fun because the color of the dress is a silverish color and do a shoe that pops or you could either do a silver or black heel.

I really like the dress! As for is it too formal, well it depends on how formal your prom is. At my schools prom pretty much everyone wore short dresses and the few that did wear longer dresses were a bit out of place.. but again, it depends. I'm not overly keen on the colour but i don't think the website has a great representation of it so i'll reserve judgement.

I would wear studded silver/diamond type (but fake, haha) earings, a delicate silver necklace and silver strappy shoes. Small clutch bag.

Haha I had no idea what colour 'taupe' was xD I really like the dress. I also love it in 'sailor'. I wouldn't worry about it being too dressy. At our prom people came in a range of dresses; some short, some simple, some really dressy but at the end of the day it didn't matter because everyone was there to have a good time and as long as you feel comfortable yourself it's not something you really notice :]
I even heard your mamma wanted some of this...
