Fancy dress!

I'm going away on a three week training course, and at the end of it apparently there's a party, and everyone needs to bring fancy dress.

I'm terrible with fancy dress, and I never know what to do. I'd prefer to be a female character, but anything would do. It NEEDS to be suitable for children! I'd like something really simple and easy but very effective. I have to travel with the costume so it needs to be small.

Any ideas are welcome. Thanks

Small and suitable ... ?
Fairy / angel? All you'd need is a dress, some wings and maybe a halo, but it would be fairly easy. Similarly a princess? Just a nice dress and a tiara.
Or animals? Like a cat or a rabbit ... just dress in leggings and top with ears (I made some with an aliceband and card once) and a tail you can pin on.

Hey Tayla,

I noticed you have blonde hair and since you want to be a female character and need a portable dress I think being tinkerbell would be perfect. If you didn't want to just buy the costume you could buy a light green strapless dress to decorate yourself. You could also put your hair in an updo, wear some glitter, and strap on some fairy wings to complete the look. Good luck with everything. I hope you have a great time.

a butterfly? you could just get some fairy wings and one of those headbands with the springy fluffy things on (i dunno if you know the kind of one's I mean? you can get them with eharts on the springs and ones that light up etc) and wear some glittery make-up and colourful clothes?

The easy one is a cat/lion/something similar. For a cat you can just wear black, paint on some whiskers and make some cat ears.. And vary it for other animals, obviously.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I love the Tinkerbell idea but I think it could be difficult and costly to get all the green items I'd need. Shame though

I own a pair of kids fairy wings which I could use, they're pink. And I have a red tutu. Obviously I couldn't wear them together, colour clash! I also have a black corset, but I don't think that's suitable for childrens' eyes.

If I could incorporate things I already own, that would be great. I'm running low on cash because I'm spending it all on equiptment for my new job! So keep the ideas coming!!

A ladybird/ladybug.

If you are handy with a sewing machine you could sew/stick black spots on your tutu and then get a red vest or t shirt and do the same or buy a red and black spotty top, then you could wear black leggings with it and then all you need is wings.

Or you could wear your black corset and the red tutu with some spots on them, if you wore a top under the corset and leggings I think it would be suitable for children then. If your corset is lace up you can change the lace to red.
