Male Purses / Murses / Male Handbags -
April 21st 2010, 09:44 PM
I've been thinking about getting one for a while because I like the look of a few of them and I like the idea of having a small bag that can carry a lot of stuff. I know that in most places it gives off the impression of being "non-heterosexual" and out of the norm.
I'm just wondering everyone's thoughts about male purses. Have a Story to Share About Your Mental Health Experiences? Check out the link below.

You mean a satchel? Like Indiana Jones wears? xD
![]() Haha. I'm just kidding with you. I think some of them look good. It just depends on the kind you get and what it looks like, and if you can pull it off. If you think you can pull it off and that you would look good in one, then go for it!

Well for one I always thought a Murse was a Male Nurse
![]() As for the bags, I think it depends on the person and the bag. Some of the bags do just look like girls handbags and then it does give off the impression the guy is gay. I think if you feel like you can pull it off then why not try. Confidence is one of the main things to make stuff like this work for you. Although I would say take into account where you live, in some areas where I like you would get beat up for carrying a purse no matter who you are and how good it looks. Also if you decide against a purse style bag you could always go for a messenger style bag, I see loads of guys with them and they look great. |

Hmmm I've always thought murses were male nurses
.Male purse?...Honestly, It's bit of turn off for me. I mean some can be able to pull it off, I guess it just depends on the person & the bag, it's just a bit tad uncommon for guys to wear it but I'd go with Rachel's statement,my boyfriend had a messenger bag he had in HS like in this picture : http://www.besportier.com/archives/m...senger-bag.jpg. i thought he looked cute in it.But overall vince, if it's something you want and you would feel comfortable wearing it around then by all mean, go for it!

You're correct they are. This is why the title confused me a LOT O_O But, I think man-bags are lovely. Just as long as they're not too large or too petit =)

I first knew of male purses being called murses.Male purses seem to be more popular in Europe than in North America, which gets negative points from where I live. I'm probably leaning towards a more fashionable messenger bag that's not too, too big. Just something for walking around in the city/mall/possible school use. And yes FlyingTrue, I was thinking more of those types of bags rather than a messenger bag

Satchel!
![]() On a more serious note, I'm a girl and I don't even carry anything that's technically a purse. I use a messenger bag and a lot of guys are using them. I think you'd look lovely with one, too.

I think it just depends on the bag. Try to stay away from ones that would be seen as girly, because that probably wouldn't look too good. But in my opinion, who cares what people think if it's what you want? If you wear it with confidence, then you wear it with style.
![]() I hate carrying purses or any kind of bags, I know that's probably completely unfeminine, but I can't stand having to lug something around everywhere with me. But if it's what you want, then I say go for it.
