Cool This is the new dress code bluesss. - August 19th 2010, 10:20 PM

So, here's the new dress code:
Quote:

Student dress must meet the following standards:
  • All clothing must be free of graphics, text, symbols, and screen-printing with the exception of college/university apparel and approved Heide Trask apparel.
  • Manufacturer’s labels or emblems larger than 3 inches by 3 inches are not permitted.
  • Oversized, undersized, skintight, or revealing garments are not permitted.
  • Clothing that is see-through or reveals the bare body or under garments is not permitted. Examples include, but are not limited to: tube tops, backless tops, one-shoulder tops, spaghetti strap tops, halter tops, clothing that reveals bra straps or underwear, tank tops, and bathing suit tops.
  • Shirts may be tucked in or out, but they must cover the waist band of the pants, skirt, shorts, skort, or capris, whether standing or sitting.
  • Shorts, skirts, dresses, and skorts must be knee length or longer. (Leggings are permitted to be worn under knee-length attire only.)
  • Pants, skirts, shorts, and skorts must be worn at the waist.
  • Pajama pants and lounge pants are not permitted.
  • Some type of shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes must be appropriate for the specific classes taken. (Bedroom shoes are not permitted.)
  • Decorative jewelry or clothing with metal spikes and excessive chains are not permitted.
  • Head coverings are not permitted in the school building. This includes, but is not limited to: ball caps, bandanas, do-rags, hats, head wraps, scarves, and visors.
This really confuses me. Every time I think I've actually put an outfit together I notice something goes against the new policy. I need help, so if you would please find examples of something I can wear to school so I won't have to A) show up in my birthday suit (which also goes against the rules) or B) Have to drop out and become a hobo. Oh, are stripes against this new dress code? and plaid? Thanks.

holy crap!
that is one INTENSE dress code!
to me i think stripes & plaid are acceptable.

one outfit would be a dress.
the bottom has to reach AT LEAST your knees,
no sleeveless dresses. i think they'll want it AT LEAST covering your shoulders. :P
i don't think they really care about shoes.. as long as they're not slippers

you could go with a long skirt/shorts/etc [make sure its worn at the waist & touches your knee]
and you could wear a loose fitting shirt with it?
not tight; but not huge.
possibly a button up? they're not usually too tight but not exactly big either?

and for accessories... you won't be able to go too far with that.
probably a simple, nice looking [not really any costume jewelry or anything like that] bracelet or earings?

hope this helped a bit.
GOOD LUCK trying not break the dress code!

p.s. make sure your shirt is long and covers up the top of your pants.

God thats pretty over the top....

To be honest, if I where you, I'd give up and grab loads of plain shirts and trousers and just go with that.

i feel your pain - my sixth form dress code is ridiculous as well.
i'd say plaid and stripes are allowed. no decorative jewellery though - that's a bit ridiculous.

Decorative jewelry or clothing with metal spikes and excessive chains are not permitted.
This means jewelry with metal spikes/a lot of chains, like this, not all jewelry. If they meant decorative jewelry in general, it would read "Decorative jewelry and clothing with metal spikes and excessive chains are not permitted."

Here's everything explained.
  • Your schools rule and (what it means in bold).
  • All clothing must be free of graphics, text, symbols, and screen-printing with the exception of college/university apparel and approved Heide Trask apparel. (Stripes, plaid and other patterns are OK, as are solids; this rule is meant to cover peace signs, gang symbols, slogans, brand names, screen-printed tees, and similar things [all for various reasons], not patterns.)
  • Manufacturer’s labels or emblems larger than 3 inches by 3 inches are not permitted. (No shirts with "AEROPOSTALE" across them, etc, although small labels/logos are OK. So a logo like this would be ok and this would not.)
  • Oversized, undersized, skintight, or revealing garments are not permitted. (Clothes must actually fit you.)
(This is fairly standard for all schools, I think. Your shoulders, midriff, back and cleavage should be covered, basically; it would be safest to go with at least a short short sleeve, like this.)
  • Shirts may be tucked in or out, but they must cover the waist band of the pants, skirt, shorts, skort, or capris, whether standing or sitting. (Self explained, I think.)
  • Shorts, skirts, dresses, and skorts must be knee length or longer. (Leggings are permitted to be worn under knee-length attire only.) (Skirts much reach the knee. Leggings do not count as pants, and if you wear them you must still wear knee-length attire.)
  • Pants, skirts, shorts, and skorts must be worn at the waist. (No low-rise pants/skirts/etc., no "pants on the ground" )
  • Pajama pants and lounge pants are not permitted. (Self explained.)
  • Some type of shoes must be worn at all times. Shoes must be appropriate for the specific classes taken. (Bedroom shoes are not permitted.) (You cannot go barefoot or in slippers/house shoes. So sneakers, sandals, pumps, etc are allowed.)
  • Decorative jewelry or clothing with metal spikes and excessive chains are not permitted. (No jewelry with spikes/excessive chains, no clothes with spikes/excessive chains, likely for safety reasons.)
  • Head coverings are not permitted in the school building. This includes, but is not limited to: ball caps, bandanas, do-rags, hats, head wraps, scarves, and visors. (No caps, hoods, etc over your head, probably for safety purposes.)
So you'll want to invest in some clothes that are solid or patterned, but do not have large print, symbols, or logos on them (small logos are OK). Your thighs (to the knees), shoulders, back, midriff, and cleavage should be covered by clothes that fit. You must always wear shoes, may not cover your head, and you cannot wear spikes/chains or sleepwear.

This is public school. All the parents are in a big outrage mob thing because now the boys can't go hunting before school because the dress code doesn't allow it or something. It's pretty crazy, it's actually stricker then my little sisters.

Wow. I'd say just stick on the safe side of everything. Dresses are cool if you wear them right, as are guys shirts - it doesn't say anything about no belts and stuff so you could try and accessorise that way....its a tough one.

And to think...we kicked off about the no jeans, no skirts/shorts, no tank top policy

That dress code lets you wear less than a uniform :S

I know at my school though they never enforce dress codes as strictly as they seem. I bet there are tons of ways to get around these rules... but then again your school might be different. I would say get lots of cute jeans, because thats all you seem to be able to wear. And you can get lots of really cute plain tees at ae. I think you could also wear like ruffles? Or lace, if youre into those kind f things, becasue they add a lot to a plain tee. And you can gets lots of colorful accessories!

The graphics and skirt length things are ridiculous. Hell, I wear shorts shorter than knee length lol.

I have just about the same dress code and I go to a private school. Girls would come to school wearing pajama pants underneath their uniform skirts . It used to happen, but not anymore. It's an all girls school and since there are no boys, no one has to worry about how they look. They would also slyly bend the rules by wearing neon socks and different colored shoes (So far, I have seen purple and baby blue). We're only allowed navy, black, or white ankle-length socks and navy, black, white, or red shoes. There is a rule that skirts cannot be some inches above the knee. Yet, I sometimes see girls with skirts that are VERY high. So, they are pretty strict here. Good luck with your school
