Question Rave attire? - September 3rd 2010, 09:54 PM

I hope this is the right spot to put this, but if not, feel free to move it.

So, I live in the midwest, which is kind of a cultural wasteland. Haha. Not many big parties and get togethers, so when it comes to that type of thing, I'm pretty lost. So, today, I got invited to go to a rave with one of my friends tomorrow. I'm super excited to go, because a bunch of awesome people are going to be there. Thing is, I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Which brings up the point-What in god's name am I supposed to wear? I have absolutely no freaking idea. I basically wear jeans and a t-shirt/hoodie with slip on vans on a daily basis. I dress for comfort over style. My friend on the other hand, likes to wear girly dresses and stuff. So will I be completely underdressed if I go in my usual attire? Oh man. I am so beyond lost on this topic. So if anybody has any advice based on personal experience or whatnot, that'd be amazing. Thanks in advance for any replies!

I wouldn't know either.
So why don't you ask your friends what to wear since they would know better and maybe also have them over and help you pick something out.

Raves usually involve bright, blacklight-responsive colours. So, try to glow, basically. And lots of fun jewelry. Though, avoid the drug aspect. A couple energy drinks should keep you at a happy, dancey level without the same risk as Ecstacy.

Neon colours and glow sticks is what comes to mind for me

These will give you some idea but you don't need to go OTT.

You could always just wear a black vest top, a neon coloured tutu with black legging and matching leg-warmers, then wear beads and stuff in that neon colour and glow sticks.
You could also get temporary spraying hair dye and put neon streaks in your hair and bright neon make up.

I do suggest asking your friends as it might be a certain type of rave and you may end up being over or under dressed.

Dress like a japanese anime character that went through a time machine to the 80s and you will fit in fine

Neon, blacklight-response clothes.

Also, ask your friend what to wear so that you won't wind up feeling our of place.
