literally only posting cos im crap at stuff like this lol - April 11th 2011, 07:21 PM

Okay so many of you know that I'm getting married this year in November.

The problem is i have literally no idea how to have my hair or my makeup. Or how to actully create a look with makeup lol

I have a few colours in my wedding which are, cherise pink, a lightish purple, cream and light grey.

My hair is just past my shoulders, quite thin and I'll be wearing a taira.

Thanks in advance for anyone that replies

Why don't you go to a salon and have your hair done?

I've found the one who completes me.
This love is like nothing I've ever felt before. <3

Yes I think you should go to salon and have it done. If you have a look at some hair magazines they often have loads of different styles and you could choose one of those and show it to the hair dresser so they can do it like that for you. They would be able to fit the tiara as well for you.

A stylist would probably be ideal, but I'll give you my (non professional) take on things. It depends a lot on the style of dress you're planning on wearing. An updo would probably work, something like this:

Or you could curl your hair to give it volume, and just a bit back from your face, something like this:

As for the makeup, I'd go with subdued, natural colors, though perhaps with some silver eyeshadow/liner. Pale/lightish pink lips, to tie the makeup in with everything else, and a very, very light dusting of shimmer from your temples to just below your cheekbone, and then more shimmery dust following along just below your cheekbone. The silver, combine with the shimmer and light colored lipstick, will make you seem to be glowing.

Something like this:

Only imagine it with pale, rose pink lips and eyeshadow and liner in shades of grey and silver.

Eh... I really don't know what I'm talking about, but I figured I'd just as well try.

Definitely try calling a salon (most will do hair and makeup and whatnot). If not that, try calling a friend who's a makeup/hair guru and ask her what she thinks. If you don't have one of those, try googling wedding and prom hairstyles and make up and see what you like.

I know how to give you makeup recommendations a heck of a lot better than I know how to give hair ones, so I'll just go with that. I have no idea where your budget is at, so I'll put some higher end recommendations and cheaper recommendations that still work well. Depending on whether or not you think you'll use the item in the future, you can pick whichever one makes most sense.

The key with wedding looks is to make your natural beauty shine through, so don't wear too much makeup or anything heavy and dark. You could try some sparkly eyeshadow and a dewy finish for your foundation and some nice pinky blush. Your lips should be pretty simple (I'm talking lip balm or something that'll last a long time because it sucks having to touch up makeup on your wedding day or get lipstick all over your now-husband when people keep clinking their glasses for you to kiss). Some thin black or brown eyeliner with some mascara (waterproof, if you think you'll cry ) that looks natural. Make sure your eyebrows are tidy and filled in if you have any thin spots. Here are some makeup products I absolutely LOVE and would feel comfortable recommending to you for something as big as your wedding day:
  • Primer (needed if you're doing eyeshadow):
Expensive option: Urban Decay's Primer Potion in whatever color you want or makes sense.
Cheaper option: Any cheap concealer you don't use anymore. Seriously, concealer works really well as primer.

  • Sparkly eyeshadow:
Expensive option: Studio Gear's Star Dust Eyeshadow (with what you said about colors, Golden Pearl, Champagne, Rose Quartz, Platinum, and Iced would all be really good choices).
Cheaper option: NYX makes really great eyeshadows. My favorites are the palettes that have 3 or 4 colors together that you can mix around and get fun combinations.

  • Sparkle/dewy finish for your face:
Expensive option: Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl. This stuff is literally possibly my favorite piece of make up ever. It was the best $30 I've ever spent, no joke. I wore this stuff to this huge club party and this was what made my makeup look so good. Put some right on your cheeks where your blush goes, a little down the center of your nose if you have a shorter nose like me, and a little in those dips above your upper lip and below your lower lip. This stuff finishes up your makeup so well and is just awesome. Make sure to use it pretty sparingly or it just looks like you smashed your face in some sparkles.
Cheaper option: Essence's Shimmer Powder. For the record, I've never used this, so I have no idea how it works, but it was literally the only cheaper comparable thing I could find.

  • Blush:
Expensive option: Benefit's Box O' Powder in Bella Bamba, CORALista, or Dandelion. I personally use Bella Bamba because my skin is pretty pale and looks nice with a brighter, more intense pink. CORALista is nice if you have a bit darker skin, and Dandelion is good if you want a pretty low key brightening effect.
Cheaper option: Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush, Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Blush, or Cover Girl anything (Cover Girl makes awesome blushes).

  • My personal favorite lip balm is those little balls by EOS that come in a light green, yellow, blue, and orange-y color and I use the light green (honeysuckle). My boyfriend likes the taste and smell and it makes your lips feel really nice, but feel free to use whatever you want.

  • Eyeliner:
Expensive option: Studio Gear's Invincible Eyeliner or Too Faced's Long Stemmed Lashes. Only use the stuff by Too Faced if you feel absolutely 100% comfortable with liquid liner because the stuff is hard to manage. Studio Gear's stuff (I've found) is best put on with an angled eyeliner brush.
Cheaper option: I can't find the exact one I used to use, but I LOVE Almay eyeliners (liquid or pencil), they're amazing.

As a tip, don't get any eyeliners that have those smudge brushes on the end. This means that the eyeliner is made to be able to smudge, which doesn't work well when you need your eyeliner to last you through a long day. Honestly, liquid liner will do you the most good if you can learn to put that on because it lasts way way longer.

  • Mascara (this is probably the most important part of your entire makeup routine because you don't want mascara running down your face if you cry or flaking and making you look like a raccoon):
    Expensive option: Benefit's BADgal Waterproof
Cheaper option: Most anything by Cover Girl. They rock at mascara. I used their Exact Eyelights stuff for a while and liked it, though the waterproof version was crap, so I stuck with the regular and never had an issue with it running if I cried.

  • Eyebrows (probably the 2nd most important thing you can do with your makeup):
Expensive option: Benefit's Brow Zings. There's a gel and powder in the set and you use the angled brush for the gel and the rounder brush for the powder (the powder is the darker one). The gel works really well for also keeping your eyebrows in place and the powder is like a finishing effect. Be careful not to use too much of the powder because since it's darker than the gel, and possibly your eyebrows, it can look fake.
Cheaper option: Can't find the link, but a long eyebrow and eye pencil from NYX.

  • Makeup setting spray (must have):
Expensive Option: Urban Decay's Setting Spray in De-Slick, Dew Me, or All Nighter. Unless your skin is either really oily or really dry, I'd suggest All Nighter. I used this stuff and my makeup still looked perfect after 4 hours of gross, sweaty dancing in a club.
Cheaper Option: Honestly, I couldn't find a cheaper version of this that's still readily in stock. I used to use Cornsilk by Sally Hansen, but they've stopped carrying it at a lot of places. It was always by the nail stuff by Sally Hansen, so that's where you could check. Pretty much, look for a translucent powder that sets your makeup.

As far as foundations and concealers go, that's all really up to you. I tend to like Clinique or Studio Gear things and haven't found any lower priced foundations I've ever liked. Studio Gear makes some awesome foundation that's pressed powder and works well as a finishing touch (before you'd add Girl Meets Pearl or the setting spray, that is). I only trust my Dermablend concealer, but it's freaking expensive. Not to mention, Dermablend is really only for if you have bad scarring or something like I do.

Dream of me, run out free, capture your words and never let them go."

I'll see you on the other side.

I'm going to a hairdresser for my hair like a month before for a hair trail and that, but she wants me to have some ideas so she can play around with them.
I was telling her about the updo's, but she thinks my hair may be to thin to carry it off.

If you have straight hair, that's thin, maybe you can go for ringlets or curl your hair like what Ana showed you!
Here are a few options:

For stuff like make up, you should go with colours that suit your skin and helps give out a natural glow.

And congratulations on your wedding!!!! <3

If your hair is too thin/short, you can always use hair extensions to give your hair more body and to give you a bigger range of styles.
