Henna and Sugar Wax - April 19th 2011, 08:24 PM

Has anyone ever sugar waxed? How hard is it? Was it effective? Also, is henna hair dye permanent, and does it look natural?

I've never worked with wax ever, but I can tell you some about henna.

I tried using henna for a while on both hair that had never been dyed before and hair that had been quite abused (I had one section of my hair neon red and the other natural for a while). I loved how it looked the first night, but I noticed that it didn't really show up on my natural hair, while it did on my dyed hair (I think it's supposed to be the opposite way for most people, but my hair's a bit wonky ). After about a week it really wasn't noticeable that I dyed my hair in the first place with it. It's definitely not permanent color no matter what brand you get because the point of henna is that it's gentle and good for your hair and you really can't permanently dye your hair without damaging it some. I think henna's best use is for enhancing color, honestly. I know a lot of people who use it in their same haircolor just to make it look nicer and it's really quite well. It will look natural if you apply it right, but it tends to wash out quite fast.
