Proactiv is lame - April 25th 2011, 02:58 AM

I have oil problems, acne/acne on my back, reddness, blotches, and basically it just really sensitive to everything. I tried proactiv, I tried skin I.D. that is worse than proactiv on me, and nothing has happened. Everything is so expensive when I look at it and why should I pay extra just because my skin is lame? What can I do without taking a loan out on my skin care.

Try cutting out dairy. I know my acne started to clear up when I cut it out, there's also some vitamin supplements you can take that will balance your hormones that may help, because acne really is just the result a hormonal imbalance. I'm currently taking several different supplements from Puritan's Pride (would post a link, but I'm short on time) which have really helped clear up my acne. I would honestly say, natural is the way to go, because I tried everything from Walmart over the counter to Pro Active, and they're all BS. The only thing that's helped me is making a paste of baking soda and water, and leaving it on the problem area until it's hard, or doing the same with sea salt and water, and tea tree oil is my lifesaver as well. Never stop drinking water!! Lol good luck(=

I'm not so great with advice. Could I interest you in a sarcastic comment instead?

I used to use AcneFree and it worked great for me, but it was a bit strong for my skin, so I was having minor reactions to it.. But they do make one for sensitive skin, just never tried it out.

Bear in mind that all products will take about 2 months to start working.
I recommend going to see a dermatologist for this. They put me on some antibiotics and now my skin is very clear and I hardly ever break out.

I haven't used Proactiv in years, but when I did (before the new solution), it took a couple months to work. Then, it worked for a couple months and quit working all together.

I've struggled with acne my entire life, though. Nothing seems to work permanently for me.

I used to have wicked bad acne, and my skin is super sensitive, so I couldn't use any types of alcohol on it. I think you should see a dermatologist, they can probably recommend or prescribe something that would work best for you.
