Russian-themed costume party -
July 12th 2011, 09:15 PM
Hi!
My friend and his friend is having a joined birthday party this weekend with a russian theme and I'll probably be able to go (not 100% sure yet). They want as many as possible to come dressed in costume, but since I got the invitation yesterday; I haven't had that much time to figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on what to wear? If the weather is nice, we're gonna be eating outside, so I don't want to dress in something that'll be too warm... I saw a blazer today at a second hand shop that was black with like... black velvet pattern on it, gold rims, and buttons in the lower part of the jacket (I hope that this makes sense). It wasn't a typical blazer style, more fancy/festive looking... Could that work? I don't know if it'll fit me (I didn't try it on), or if it'll still be in the store, however... And even if I do get it; what to wear with it? Also, this friend and I have a history together, plus there are gonna be a bunch of people there that I haven't met, and I kind of want to look stunning, or look my best at least... Nothing bad with that, I hope... Sorry if you think that's petty of me... If you have any advice/suggestions/ideas on what to wear, please post it! I don't have that much time to put a costume together, and if I decide to dress in costume, I want to do it well! Thanks! <3

I google searched 'russian costume and this - ... - was one of the results; it looks pretty mimicable. if you go for a mini-dress in a bright colour (red was the dominant colour on the google search) with a peasent-blouse underneath, that'd probably suffice =)

I think i forgot to put the link in but it was a folky-type dress ^^ I saw a lot of peasent blouses in vintage shops recently, i think there are some on the highstreet too
