Bad Haircut Survival Guide -
October 9th 2011, 05:23 PM
I recently recieved a bad haircut. How bad? I'll show you.
What I wanted was comparable to this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--zbfQQgdfO...oy_haircut.jpg Albeit signifgantly shorter, but still below eye level. What I recieved was this: http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethe...ckmcbrayer.jpg I was obviously angry about this, and realized my hair will grow to what I wanted with the current style, but in the meantime I look silly. Any man, woman or child who has ever grown their hair out past the "army buzzcut" style can tell you that a bad haircut sucks. It hurts your self confidence, it makes you feel lousy, and it can overall ruin a good day. So the steps to dealing with it: At the Salon/Barber/Stylist's/Mom's kitchen/wherever you get your hair cut 1.) Tell whomever cut your hair that you are displeased. This is not what you wanted, make sure they understand this.l 2.) Put in a complaint at the counter you pay at if it's a real buisness place with a different cashier than stylist, because telling the stylist twice will likely result in a fight. 3.) Leave. It's best to leave before tensions grow too high. You're likely angry, and this is not a good position to be in while dealing with anyone. On your way home after the haircut: 1.) Grieve. As silly as it sounds, a bad haircut can make both men and women cry. It's disappointing. If you must cry, do it. If you need a minute to complain and be angry do it. 2.) Figure out what you want to do now. Check yourself in a mirror, is it really as bad as you thought? Plan what you need to do next. Can you get another haircut to even it out? Can you afford extensions? Would this look better if you coloured it? Is it a good time to buy a hat? 3.) Do whatever you planned on. I decided that a... Americans call them "Skull Cap hats" on my head, worn high on my head would look best for this style. Amazingly if I combed my hair forward and wore my hat, it looked much better. At home: 1.) Accept this is the worst you will look. Seriously, you will never look worse than your first week after a bad haircut. After that it will grow out, even out and fix whatever looks bad. Over the course of this haircut you will never look worse. 2.) Realize hair grows back. It does. I've had my haircut for three days already, and it is growing back already. Before it was above my eyebrows, and now the bangs (fringe) have grown past my eybrows. It's a quick process. 3.) Make a joke. The second picture I posted is actually Kenneth from a television show called 30 Rock. Now, you might not know about this show, but all of my friends do. So I combed my hair like Kenneth and talked in his southern accent when it came time to face them, and they thought it was hilarious. Now instead of me being a victim to a bad haircut, they thought it was some intentional effort to get laughs. After following these steps, even the worst haircuts can seem managble. I just felt that this would be a great "guide" to include on teenhelp for the timebeing. - Justin ![]() |

I absolutely hate it when I get a bad haircut... thankfully mine are never too bad, but that's only because I've never experimented. I've love hair like the guy you posted that you wanted hair like, but I'm not willing to risk screwing it up!
I thought about you for the rest of the day. Catching my head turning to find you again. I hated myself for it. |

I dislike getting a bad hair cut, so this was actually pretty helpful for me in realizing that hair does grow back. I usually tend to stick to the same person every time. Though I know it's not possible for that to always happen. Thank you for posting this, Justin.

I actually started just cutting my own hair so that it will turn out how I want. I got many haircuts that didn't resemble what I wanted so I finally decided to just do it myself
