Smart casual dress code for work experience? - October 18th 2011, 05:00 PM

I'm doing work experience in November with a teacher, and he's requested smart/casual clothing... my question is what exactly is that? :')

Obviously not jeans/trainers/tshirts.

Would leggings be okay? Skirts/dresses I suppose. How short is too short? And how low a neckline is too low? What about tops with racer backs (http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...HIk7J7nnGLN3qU) because you can see your bra...

Any advice would be appreciated <3

I work at a high school, but I don't have a professional dress code because I'm only part-time. I follow the students' dress code though & avoid anything too short, too low, or too thin of straps.

I do work with a student-teacher though. He usually dresses professionally, like wearing slacks & a nice collared shirt. But then again, he's a guy.

For you, I'd recommend staying within their dress code. Definitely no spaghetti straps or bras showing. Skirts should be within their dress code just to be safe. Make sure not to wear anything with inappropriate brand names or designs as well. If in doubt, definitely ask him to be sure.
