I want to cut my hair in a strange way and I want to dye some locks of hair, maybe in violet or blue.
My style is kind of gothic. I dress in black and wear dark makeup all the time and my mom doesn't accept it. Sometimes she stares at me and laughs at me. Once I was wearing leggings with some cuts on them and when I came home my mom said "you look ridiculous and vulgar! You should wear some black collants under them!". She just laughed hard when she first saw me. And now that I want to change my hair she said it's stupid and unnecessary. She's way too conformist. I'm not asking anything too weird, I just want to add some color to my horrible hair. My aunt agrees with me. She always says that she does that because she doesn't like it... but it' my hair, my clothes, my way to be. I'm only 15 but I want to have more freedom. I don't think I'm asking for too much. I'm sick of her deciding everything for me. I find it wrong. It's my life. yes, I'm still young, but Im not asking ofr a permanent tattoo! Sh said "maybe we'll se for the haircut and color" but every time she says "maybe" she means "no, I just want to deceive you". This kind of thing already happened. How ca I convince her? I'm afraid that if I go on asking her about that she'll beat me up. When I'm down, I can't help but cry scarlet tears. Some people believe in God, I believe in Music. Some people pray, I turn up the radio. I never thought a girl could change my life this much, but you did and now I can't let you go. You'll always be the best part of me. I will miss you, T. ![]() |

Well, your mother might be conformist, but you're conforming in non-conformation...
I would honestly explain to her in a heartfelt way why you dress the way you do, and what your appeareance means to you. Explain that although this is probably just a phase, you honestly feel that you need to act on it, because it's how YOU feel right NOW. - Justin ![]() |

If she's willing to settle for a compromise, there are removable highlights you can buy. They're clips with colored horsehair, and they can look pretty neat.
I agree with JKmadu, honest discussion is the best way to go. Fighting doesn't work. Maybe if your aunt agrees, you could ask her to talk to your mom? She might be more understanding if it's coming from another adult. |
