student loans without cosigner? -
January 3rd 2011, 05:52 PM
Alright so I am having difficulty trying to find a student loan without a cosigner, the reason why I can't have a cosigner is because of the fact my parents will not do it and no one else around me is not a idiot. So where can I find one without one? I already have these kind of aid helping me:
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan ederal Direct Unsub Loan Ky Ed Exc Schol (KEES) Federal Pell Grant So please do not bother trying to list those |

Will the banks give you the loan with no co-signer or do you just want one? Other thing is I am wondering why your parents will not do it?

I think the only option you might have is to go to a school that you can afford. It really is unfortunate. I would look at getting the basics out at a community school where that amount will cover it or if they have a degree-transferring option, I would do that. Usually community colleges partner with local universities to offer you a chance to have your credits transfer fully to that university.
Also consider a career where you can get a job with a two-year and depending on what you want to do, some jobs have tuition reimbursement. When you are 25, you won't need your parents to co-sign loans and they will base it solely off your own income. Edit: Have you talked to your school's financial aid department? They probably have had to help people before in your shoes. They may be able to give you hints towards which banks are the most lenient. One thing I do advise against is Sallie Mae. They are evil and they are headaches. They will lie to you on the phone and the only way to deal with them to get a straight answer is through the school or through email.
