I'm awful at this. -

I've never really had my own money until recently. If I wanted to buy something I'd just ask my dad for money. Right now I have my own bank account and my own money coming in. I'm really really bad at not wasting it :| I've never actually had to calm down with money before now.
Luckily I don't smoke anymore or drink alcohol but I just buy random crap online I bought 20 Nintendo DS styluses a few days ago which I don't really need :/ I really want to save up for a Nintendo 3DS but at the moment the only money I have saved is £40. Has anyone got any ideas on how to save money? ![]() |

Take 50% of everything you earn and put it in a savings account which you can't touch. This works really well when you're living at home simply because you haven't got many bills to pay. Saving is simple and the people that manage to save while their young do good as an adult.
Thats my advise to you. |

I had this. I've always worked since I was like 13 but not much and my parents supported me. When I got my first full time job I suddenly had money and went mad, when I should have been saving for uni and paying my parents the £50 a week rent. I eventually got a shock when a few months in I had no money after paying rent and buying things I didn't need. I really needed money at that point and it made me stop spending so stupidly!!
It's good you're realising now, and not too late like I did :P I'd go with what Ryan said, have an account you "can't touch" and put a percent of your wage in there. there are a lot of accounts about in the UK that give you a higher interest rate if you don't withdraw each month, so you'll earn even more on your savings. You can't move mountains by whispering at them. Take a look at my art here: http://attemptedart.tumblr.com/ |
