I could really use alot of help! My brown brassy hair needs to go. - September 2nd 2012, 01:25 AM

My hair is brassy and no ash tone will cover it up. My hair stylist said the only way out is to bleach it. I had black hair and bleached it to a gloden blonde then dyed it auburn and it turned bright orange ._. So i kept dyeing it darker brown and it kept fading to an orange brown. So at the moment i have orange brown hair. Tips on bleaching? It was pretty damaged before but i havnt bleached it for six months now and my hair is healthy as can be. i deep condition it once a week. Should i be able to last 2 bleaches without destroying my hair?

Give me your guys opinions on what i should do!

Your hairdresser said that was the only way?

Technically, when you lightened your hair the first time, you took out a lot of the color pigments. To return to a darker color you must first put those lost pigments back into the hair. If not, then it fades to a weird color as you've found out. I suggest talking to your hair stylist again or finding a new one. You do not need to lighten your hair to correct the color. I can give you tips on lightening, but it's not neccesary if you're looking to stay a brunette and save your hair from further damage. You just have to find the right stylist.

Take Care!

You could try a hair toner, those are made to get rid of brassiness. If that doesn't work, then you will only need to bleach your hair once if you leave it on long enough. If your hair is healthy right now then it will be okay through a bleach but it would be a good idea to trim the ends afterwards and do a deep condition.
And it would be best actually to lighten your hair first because that's the best way to get an accurate color that won't fade to something weird as you've found out.

And here you are living, despite it all.
