Question Want a new hairstyle... - December 21st 2012, 05:22 PM

So, I really need a haircut and I'm thinking of getting it cut in January (I have a wedding to go to on the 24th). I have an oval face and my hair looks best down to my shoulders, so I'm going to get it cut down to there. And I'll probably get a side fringe.

However, should I have it layered? And feathered around the side?

I also want a coloured strip in it, but I don't know whether this would be appropriate or not!! My hair is a dark-ish brown, what colour hair strip should I get, if I do decide to get one? I want it to stand out slightly, but not too much.

And she turns up the music, to drown out her life.

22/12/2014 was the last date I self-harmed. The longest I have gone so far is 1 year, 2 months and 5 days. This time, I hope I can give up! New record: 1 year 6 months! Yay!!

Definitely like your idea of getting it layered but I would keep your hair color the same, I think that would look good.

If you're looking to get something that stands out, but not too much, stick with something that enhances your hair color, such as a blonde strip..or even a blue strip of hair.

If you're looking for hair styles, I suggest using this website: http://beauty.about.com/od/hairstyle...airgallery.htm

It has the 20 most flattering cuts for someone with your face shape. You can try several different ones, and you may even find an app or a simulater online that takes a picture of your face, then puts that hair style on you. It might be worth a try. Once you've found something you like, print it out for your stylist, so they can work off of the photo, and not just comments from you. It's what I've done every time I get my hair cut and all my haircuts came out perfectly.

Try to find a picture reference like Shannon said, and I think the layers could be a nice idea. If you like the idea of feathering it, go for it. As for the hair colour strip, if you want it to be not too noticeable but not hidden, I suggest a blonde strip or if you're looking for fun playful colours, perhaps getting a deep blue or a red.
