20 but passing for 15 - April 27th 2013, 05:39 PM

Hi everyone.

So as my little age thing there
<-----
says, I'm 20. But I can easily pass for 15. I get customers at work asking when I'm leaving school and everyone I meet is genuinely shocked at how old I am. I realise it's probably just my face but I've been thinking about changing my hair for a while now anyway. That's where you come in.

So first off, here's the most recent photo I have, I'm on the right with the red hair:

I know it's not the best but I hate taking photos of myself.
So I'm going to see if I can get it cut on Monday. Right now it's just reaching my shoulders and is pretty much all the same length apart from a few stray bits that are a tad longer (I had a bit of an accident involving kitchen scissors..)

What kind of style/length do you think might help me look closer to my actual age?
Preferably something that'll be relatively easy to upkeep. I don't mind straightening my hair but in terms of blowdrying and styling and all that every day, I really don't have the time or patience most days to do it.

I'll take anything I can get, I'm so sick of being ID'd for movies rated 15!

Throw those curtains wide
One day like this a year would see me right

I'm 22 and look 17 and it's a proper pain in the bum. You have my sympathies. People always say 'I'd love to look younger/you're so lucky/you'll appreciate it when you're older' (what are the odds someone here will come up with one of those?? ) but it's crap being mistaken for a kid when you're an adult!!

I would talk to the hairdresser about your concerns. A change in colour might help - I'm personally a huge fan of the red hair, but sometimes people can associate it with teenagers or younger students. But the hairdresser will have a better idea of what suits your face shape and what might look better. I'd say going very short would be a failsafe way to get an older look but obviously that takes a bit of courage!! Whatever you decide though I'm sure it'll look gorgeous. (: Best of luck!!

Okay firstly, that's a really adorable picture.
Secondly, stay away from bangs. They will make you look younger than you are. I think you would look really pretty with long side-swept bangs that end in the middle of your cheek.
It's a bit hard to see how long your hair is, typically short hair makes people look older. So maybe keep it around a couple inches below your shoulders?

And here you are living, despite it all.
