I want to dye my hair but... - November 10th 2017, 01:31 PM

This is just a quick post because I don't have too many questions but I want to dye my hair. Not permanently but I've seen this spray or temporary dye in pharmacies and I wanted to try a whole bunch of different colors after school. We were never allowed to dye our hair at school (very strict uniform code) so I just want to go crazy after graduation I've heard that it looks kind of tacky but honestly, I don't care. I just want to have some fun. But the thing is, I have blonde or blonde-ish hair and I'm worried about it getting stained? One of my friends said blonde hair can get stained permanently if it's dyed although I don't know if she was talking about wash-out dye or semi-permanent...like will it wash out completely? I wanted to try black, maybe red, blue or purple, if colors make a difference.

Hey there,
there are different kinds of blonde hair. It can be icy or platinum, which is very light, golden, yellowish, or even chocolate blonde, which is dark. The lighter the hair, the more intense the colour will be. So whether the dye will go off completely or not (and if yes, how long it will take) depends on a few factors: your shade of blonde, type of dye and the times your hair had been dyed before. If it hasn't, there is a good chance the dye will wash off completely (the more destroyed the hair, the deeper the dye gets into it - and therefore the healthier the hair, the more the dye stays on the surface - of course I'm talking about semi-permament dyes here). We can never say with 100% confidence whether the dye will go off or not, but you can try to predict that
If you've got any further questions, I'll be glad to help.

Hey,
I'm not sure what color you are actually talking about. Like are you talking about the color hair spray they have for like Halloween that just washes out? If so then the lighter the blonde is the harder it is to get out, but also if your hair is darker it won't show up that well. When I was little and used it, it didn't all come out it left a light tinge of color. If you want to do a temp color you actually have to have blonde hair, for it to show up. It doesn't show up that well on dirty blonde hair, but it does a little.

I hope this helped a little.
If you have any more questions just ask me. I have been dying my hair crazy ass colors since I was 15.

Your friend,
Esaa<3

My niece is blond and, for Halloween, my sister in law got the spray on purple hair stuff (she hated the wig she had last year and this was a better option). When she was doing my hair last week she told me how much she loved the stuff and how she was contemplating trying it for herself as just a little fun experiment since she has always wanted pink hair. She didn't mention anything about it being difficult to get out. My sister in law is a hairstylist though so that my have contributed to her having an easier time getting it out; she know pretty good tricks for hair.

I know there are chalks you can get too and my niece will sometimes use that. Those might be easier to get out?

Best of luck.

Hey there! I’ve got super dark hair and the spray in colours never showed on my hair. However, one of my sisters has super blonde hair and they would show up in her hair. Two of my other sisters have dark blonde hair and they would show up as well. The ones we used typically lasted 3-5 washes but some darker colours lasted 7ish. The ones we got were recommended by our hair stylist.

Hair chalk is another option. I’ve used it a few times and it showed up in my dark brown hair. It wasn’t as bright as in my sisters hair but it still was visible and it washes out. You can get a variety of colours as well and it works pretty good. You can even use non oil based pastels instead of buying the actual hair chalks. It only lasts one-ish shampoo but you can try many different colours to see what you like before using a temporary spray.

Hope you manage to find something that works!

Buy an expensive dye and it's good to wash.

The only non-permanent dye that stained my hair was Manic Panic, but I think it's considered demi-permanent or something along those lines. The sprays have always washed out of my hair, and I'm blonde too. Usually they'll say on the box/container whether it will wash out or not, so you can always check for that.

And here you are living, despite it all.
