Fading highlights... - December 26th 2009, 07:13 PM

Hey guys! Okay, I'm a natural blonde (my hair is a sort-of mousy, dark-blonde color...the shade of blonde that most natural blondes fade to as they grow older)...and every few months or so, I get my hair professionally highlighted to a sort of butter/golden-light blonde color....the only problem is that within a few weeks or so, it seems that the color tends to fade...and it's REALLY FRUSTRATING because I'm spending my hard-earned money on this cr*p...and I'm not too pleased with the temporality of the results. I'm opting to return to the salon within a couple of weeks, but needless to say...I'm reluctant to waste more money (I ALWAYS ask for a very, very light blonde...and although initially the color is satisfactory, I can't stand when it fades...). I wear hair extensions...and they're a tid-bit lighter than my color right now (although they blend because they, too, are frosted)...

Anyway, do you guys have any suggestions? It's really difficult for me to change salons because the one that I currently go to is nearest my house (and I don't drive...)...would it be wise to buy an at-home kit? Like a really, really light blonde? And just simply dye the whole thing?

Here's what my hair currently looks like...

I personally think that's a really nice colour, but hey.

I've allways been told washing lemon in your hair makes highlights really pop....

but if you really arnt happy with the colour, why not look for the at home highlighing kit, and get someone you really trust to help you out.
