okay so my natural hair color is dark blonde and I dyed it platinum blonde for a few years then i went to brown and now i currently have black hair (not jet black, the box said natural black) for almost a year and i want to lighten it for summer like maybe have a light-medium brown with maybe some highlights..i was wondering, does anyone know a safe way (so it wont fry or turn orange) to do that by myself instead of getting it professionally done?
thanks<3 |

I would say go to a professional as well. I know so many people sit there and say. I want to save money. I don't want to go to one and you know it, its probably what you are telling yourself. But it will save you time, it will be done properly and you'd probably save money because what if what you use turns out for the worst and you have to use a professional anyways. These people went to school for this. And even if you can't lighten it, go to a professional and get highlights. It will look lightened and highlights do well in summer.
There is my advice for professionalism. As far as doing it at home all I can think of is something like sun-in but for dark hair because it is for BLOND TO MEDIUM BLOND TO BROWN HAIR. If something says it is for a certain color and your color is not it then please do not use it. Always remember to put your happiness first.

DON'T bleach it back. The only way you'll safely do it is use a clarifying shampoo over and over, use hot water everytime you take a shower, go in the sun a LOT. Don't die it and if you do die it, do it demi-permanent brown. My hair was black black for a LONG time and now I have normal brown hair. Thanks to this. But I also have damage due to the bleaching in the past that I will have until it's cut off.

I had black black hair about a year and a half ago, now it's light brown with blonde highlights. I just waited for the black to fade (it may look like crap when it's fading but it's worth it) a brown colour and had highlights. I then had more highlights and just builded it up until it got to the colour I wanted.
Then a few months ago I decided to dye my hair brown (I didn't like it) after a while I just put more blonde highlights on top again I like my hair again now.I highly recommend going to a hairdressers. I'm lucky as my mum's best friend used to teach hairdressing so she knows what she's doing. ![]() |
