Cool for those who can't afford/aren't allowed to dye their hair.... - June 20th 2010, 01:57 AM

Okay, so if you are having troubles with real hair dye, I've found that Crayola *WASHABLE*(THEY **MUST** SAY WASHABLE ON THE PACKAGE)markers can be put in your hair and washed out with ONLY water. Just felt like sharing my knowledge with you all out there(:

Love you-- Kayla c:

Sounds interesting but I don't think I'd try it.

I picked up some spray on dye from boots. I don't recall the brand but it was about £1 per can and it would wash out with soap and water

I'm not sure that using markers on your hair is a good idea, it doesn't sound like it'd be healthy and your hair would probably get damaged.

If it washes out with just water I don't imagine it can be too dangerous. Defiantly better then real hair dye.

Temporary dyes actually made for hair would be muh healthier and less damaging to the hair than markers. Manic panic sells for about ten bucks at my local spencers, twelve at hot topic. If money is the issue, this sounds cheap enough. Guess what, it works too I know ht also sells these spray ins for about six dollars and comb in dyes for a dollar.

Surely it would take hours to marker all your hair in...?? Or am I being ditzy and missing some more obvious way of doing it..?? Either way, i think a cheap hair dye would be better for your hair and skin :/

You can get 99P wash in wash out stuff which is much healthier. Yes markers wash out, but they're made for drawing on paper, not for hair. The chemicals in them can't be good. Wash in/out hair dye is made for that purpose and makes your hair soft!

Washes out with shampoo so it won't run in the rain

My friend used to use marker in her hair! It was awsome! Wash it out before you sleep tho!

When it comes down to it...You just gotta know who you are...and be ok with that.
I'm here to help...anytime.
And I just want some help in return.
I love you all.

I don't think putting markers in your hair would be particularly damaging. Dying your hair on the other hand is very damaging to it.. especially if your using unusual colors like Manic Panic, because a lot of people bleach their hair before they use those.. and bleaching your hair really wrecks it. (I'm saying this from experience.. I fried my hair on more than one occasion when I was younger.) Washable markers are safe for kids (who touch and eat everything) so I wouldn't worry about it too much! I'm not sure how good it looks, but hey whatever floats your boat :]

Back in the 80's, when people wanted funky hair colour, they'd use Kool-Aid. It'd last a short amount of time (not sure how long, maybe a few days tops), but be bright, vibrant, and cheap. Don't know if it was any good for their hair, though. Its essentially flavoured powder with food colouring, so it couldn't be too bad.

Kool-aid does work but only if your hair is light.
You just mix the kool-aid packets in with some conditioner then put it on your hair with like an unused toothbrush and wrap it in foil then wait 15 minutes and wash it out.
You could also do this with RAW hair color they sale at hot topic, that's what I used and I LOVE it and it washes out over time.
http://img.hottopic.com/is/image/Hot...9_hi?$270x406$ that's the color I used. & it's only like $13.

Also, since it comes out with water it does not last long I would want something to lasts if I were to dye my hair which isn't happening but still.

I really doubt that Crayola markers are going to damage your hair lol. They're made for small children to use them. They're not harmful to your skin either. When I was really little I un-did the buttons on my shirt, colored my stomach green, and put my shirt back together. Nothing bad came of it lol.

I've colored my hair with markers before too. And they only thing that kinda sucks about it is that it can come off your hair and stain your fingers.

Another option besides markers would be spray color.

That is a great brand of spray on hair color and it washes right out.
