Hair help! -

I am getting my hair cut and styled this Saturday!
I want it short...I really don't want the temptation of pulling it back into a pony tail. My mom thinks I should go short short, but i am not sure I can pull that off. Also my hair is ver thick!! So, I don't want it this long! Helpppp! Here is what I look like to help...somewhat.

would i look okay with short hair??? im nervoussss. I am making my mom go with me to help with telling the person what to do.  t-minus 13 hours til i say bye bye to my hair.
