Help! blonde wont work! :( -
February 19th 2011, 12:12 PM
I'm trying to lighten my hair and used ColourB4 to take the darkness out (contains no bleach) and my hair went a really pale orange colour
![]() I tried to put a very very light blonde over it and my hair has went dark brown!!! I'm really wanting to go blonde as my hair is a strawberry blonde/auburn colour and I miss it so i'm wanting to kinda get the same colour as my roots. Having said that my hair used to be very vibrant in colour and its not growing in very light (i've dyed it dark for the past couple of years).. one pic of now and two pics of before (when i was thinner) fuuuu..... |

The blonde that you tried putting on top of the orange color, was it a lightener? Or just a lighter shade of color?
Color doesn't lift color, so if you were trying to go lighter by using a dye instead of a lightener then it's not going to work. And the pigments in the colors and what's in your hair don't always cancel eachother out or compliment one another so it'll end up a totally different shade than expected. If you're wanting to get to a light blonde you'll need a lightener and probably a toner. Or you could try the color remover again, tone your hair and then put a color over it (assuming it gets to that light orange again and the color you use is the same level of lightness or darker). Or, you could go to a hairstylist and have them fix it or just have a consultation and ask what would need to be done. No matter what you do though, make sure you're using a good moisturizing shampoo/conditioner because all of that coloring can cause damage that can affect how your color turns out as well. Good luck!

Your hair is probably way more porous than it was before since you've tried to lighten it and have colored it, which is why the color came out so much darker than you were expecting, probably. To be honest, I think you should try seeing a hairstylist. It's bad for your hair to be lightened and dyed so much in a short period, so I think it would be in your best interest to get an opinion from a professional so that you don't damage your hair badly or come out with some crazy color you hate.
