Split ends ): - March 30th 2011, 05:51 PM

My hair has been through so much; hair dyes, chemical perms, (almost) daily straightening... Now, the ends are quite dry and damaged & I see split endsssss, lots of them ): I'm trying to grow my hair after a horrific haircut, so I dont want to trim it if I have any alternatives... Is there any way to somehow fix split ends? Is my only option to chop them off?? ):

i don't know if it's the only option, but it is the best option. otherwise your hair is going to have a hard time growing. just get the split ends trimmed off, and your hair will be a lot more healthy and will grow a lot easier.

Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance.

It's literally impossible to actually fix split ends without cutting them. You can mask them with serums and whatnot, but the split ends are always there. It sucks to have to cut off all of them, but your hair will actually seem like it's growing faster if you do. Right now, your hair keeps splitting as it grows longer and breaking off, so it's not growing very fast (the growing rate is still the same, just it's breaking off). If you cut it, it will be growing healthier. I know it sucks to lose the length. When I first decided to grow my hair I was so mad that I had to cut about 3 inches off, especially when my hair was quite short already, but it grew so ridiculously fast afterwards.

These sites are really great for learning how to take care of your hair in general, whether you're trying to grow it out or not (especially the second one):

"Love me for me, accept the fact I'm true, live like I want, fufill my dreams,
Dream of me, run out free, capture your words and never let them go."

I'll see you on the other side.

A haircut is a good idea. After you get yours though, you can buy shampoo and conditioner specifically made for preventing split ends, and keeping your hair healthy. Good luck!
