Dying my hair blue.

I'm dying my hair a different colour .. once again

I currently have dark brown hair... but I am naturally blonde. Guess which colour I'm going next?

BLUE

Yep, that's right.. Bright blue.

So anyway, do I strip my hair? Or bleach it? Then how long do I leave it before I dye it.. and what is the best blue dye to use.. how often do I dye it and stuff?

Hey there,

You can get some decent bleach from Wilkos Charli, the Smart Blonde lightener stuff. This bleach lightens your hair but doesn't have any ammonia in and it has two packs of the bleach in so is good for longer hair. I recommend doing the bleaching and dying over a couple of days so you don't damage your hair too much. In my experience after bleaching I always have patchy colours since the roots tend to bleach faster than the ends.

Make sure you condition really well after bleaching, I always leave the conditioner on for at least half an hour. Then the next day I put the dye on and condition again.

There's only two brands that I've seen do blue hair colour in shops around here, that's Smart Colour and Stargazer. However, you can get Directions and Manic Panic on the internet. All of these brands are semi permanent though and as for how often you need to dye it, well that would depend on when it starts fading.

Adding some of the dye to your conditioner/shampoo can help prevent fading and gives you a quick 'top up' of colour so that might be something you decide to do.

DO NOT STRIP your hair thats a bad move.. it will totally damage it and the ends will fall off and it will never grow the same again... I would go get a stylist to do it and they can do it without stripping your hair.... I thought I was gonna have to strip my hair when i messed it up and my stylist said NO well it was like a HELL NO don't strip it thats prolly the worse thing you can do

paintbox, is what i use to dye my hair... its a wash out, but the colours are great, i dye my hair than mix a bit of the left over dye in my hair when im washing it. keeps the colour good , and bleaching it would work better ... are you dying it all or just bits .
