Staticy hair and hairstyles? - April 11th 2012, 11:45 PM

I have really staticy hair so most of the time I end up putting it up in a ponytail or something. I'm just getting frustrated with it and bored with the same hairstyle everyday. I've tried the anti static sprays and they made it worse. Is there anything else I could try to get rid of the static? What are some other simple hairstyles I could do?

My friend has really curly hair that tends to get very frizzy and staticy. What really helped her was actually putting some mousse in her hair right after she showered, and then using anti-frizz serum when it dried.
Don't blow dry your hair, that will make it worse.

And here you are living, despite it all.

Exactly what Nicole says. My hair is super curly and frizzes very easily, and the best thing to do is definitely use some anti-frizz shampoo and then put conditioner into your hair after you're done showering, and don't blow dry.

Whatever you do, don't blowdry! It's the worst thing you can do Instead, try towel drying your hair and leaving it.
Also mouse works wonders. I used to have terribly static hair but once I started using hairspray and mousse it calmed down a bit. I don't know how often you wash your hair, but doing it every night will strip the chemicals and nutrients from your hair, making it dry and ultimately making it go static. Try leaving a couple of days between washes - see if that improves it a little.

Also, another tip, try not to use fine tooth combs when styling your hair. It always sends mine more static, instead try wide tooth combs and flat-backed brushes.

I hope this helps

If you're off school/work whatever for a while, try going a few days without washing your hair, the longer the better. I've been advised in the past to not wash my hair for 3 weeks! But that's a bit extreme :P But yeah, let the natural oils build up for a few days (maybe over the weekend? Wash your hair Thursday night then leave it til Monday morning?) It could tone down the static
