advice? - August 26th 2010, 10:30 PM

lets start this off with what piercings i have, and what age i got them:

first holes in my earlobes, i was 9.
second holes, i was 12.
cartlidge on my left side when i was thirteen. (just one)
right side of my nose: 14.

im 15 now, and i really want the left side of my bottom lip pierced.
and i want third holes on my lobes, and my cartlidge (on both sides, this time) and on the right ear, i want one more in the middle inbetween the cartlidge and my earlobe.

so thats... 6 more piercings i want. my dad was ok with my ears before, and it took some convincing but he let me get my nose pierced. (this was while my parents were together).. well now my parents are sepearted, and i live with my dad. i dont have contact with my mom anymore. im the only girl in the house.

he pretty much lets me do anything i want cause he doesnt know how to handle me. me n him never used to be very close.

how do i convince him to let me get any of these done?!

i save up my own money. i babysit people and i applyed for a couple jobs. i sold some things. im good at managing my own money.

ive pulled the 'its my body' and 'its a way of expressing myself' and things like that.

nothing will convince him. he thinks ill go piercing crazy. he says 'oh i see people at the bar all the time with 5 piercings on each eyebrow and 4 on their nose and 3 on each lip i dont want you doing that so im stopping you now!'

but i dont want that! in my opinion, i find that really trashy.. no offense to anyone with that many piercings. but i just want some more on my ears, and my lip. any ideas on how i can convince him? /:

Well I know how bad you want these piercings, trust me. I have been there and done that. The truth of the matter is you can ask all you want but you are 15 and if he says no, he says no and there is nothing you can do about it.

What I can suggest is you give it time. Don't bring it up for a while and when I say a while I mean a good while, like a month or two and then try bringing it up slowly and don't throw every teenage line in the book on him. Just ask him if you could get it done and not all of them, start out with one or two.

Agreed. If you overwhelmed him with this list of piercings, it's going to sound ridiculous to him.

As wonderbread said, try doing them one or two at a time. Like, the 3rd holes at the same time, then a couple months or so down the road, cartilage on the right side, then a few months after that the left cartilage, then the lip. That kind of deal. If he says NO to the lip, save it until you're 16, since thats the piercing age without adult consent in most areas anyways.
