So I got the cartilage near the top of my ear pierced back in the beginning of August and it still bleeds sometimes (like this morning), and it only bleeds on the back side not the front. (Its a loop not a stud, not sure if that makes a difference.) I clean it regularly so its not infected or anything. So I'm not sure if this is normal or if its because of something I'm doing/not doing?

I had my cartilage pierced one week ago and it didn't bleed when I got it done and hasn't bled since, not once, not even a tiny bit.
There aren't many blood vessels in your ear cartilage so they don't usually bleed a lot. Some bleeding during healing is normal though as I was told to expect it, they healing process can take a few months. If you are worried about you should contact your piercer and they can make sure everything is ok, if you go to a doctor they will just tell you to take it out so your piercer is the best bet here... |

My piercings bled a lot. I think they might have been infected, but it wasn't too bad. I just kept cleaning them several times a day and after a few weeks they healed up and have been fine ever since. So if they're infected it's nothing to panic about, just try and get it cleaned up and don't let it spread!
Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year.
It's perfectly fine to be a happy individual. Take off at the speed of sound... |

Then it may be infected. I suggest you go back to the piercer and ask them about it.

I doubt very much that its infected. Its more than likely bleeding a bit cause of sleeping on it.
Realistically, piercings can take months to heal. Just keep it clean and it will heal completely soon enough. My bellybutton did the same, took about a year to heal properly! She flies with her own wings |

I know that they told me when I got mine pierced, was that it should take 6 months to hea,. And to wait 6 months to change it. So I think the small amounts of bleeding is normal, and depends on the person. I truly think it is okay. However, if you feel as if the bleeding gets worse, or other fluid is coming from it then you have an infection. What I suggest you do is, even though you got the piercing a few months ago, still be cleaning it at night. Especially if you are having some bleeding.

I had a lot of issues with my cartilage piercings. Like, a LOT.
Once I started taking them out at night, then putting them back in when I woke up in the morning, they healed perfectly. The piercings were hurting because the earrings were getting pulled on while I slept. So, once I eliminated this, they healed up fantastically. ![]() I've found the one who completes me. I'd say it's due to it getting snagged while you are sleeping. Do you have long hair? It could be getting caught in it too.
Cartilage piercings can take awhile to heal, so like other have said, just keep it clean. And try to not sleep on the side with your piercing. ![]() Great works are performed not by strength, but by perseverance. PM me anytime <3 |
