This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.
I think I've seen a thread like this and I apologize for the redundancy! I cannot find it so I thought I would make a new one.
Stopping self harming for good seems extremely overwhelming to me. I've only ever gone about a year I believe? I've self-harmed for four years through various methods/means on and off. I really want this shit to be over. Therefore to celebrate being rid of this demon I want to wait at least two years and then get one! A concept I'm thinking of is doing a play with "Remember remember the fifth of November" as that was the day I made the decision to not harm myself again and to break the pattern for good. Does anyone have any tattoos? Planning any? Know any good ideas for some? Please share.

Since this thread deals more with tattoos than self-harm, I've moved it to what I think is a more appropriate forum. Feel free to contact me if you disagree.
Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh, and cruel. But that's why there's us - champions. Doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world is as it should be, to show it what it can be. |

To WhoAmI: Thank you for sharing and support.
To Chess: The reason I posted it in self harm was because I wanted people who have experiences with self harm to reply to my topic. I'm not sure that crowd will see this thread if its over here...hopefully they will. I didn't intend this thread to trigger anyone (I forgot that tattoos are a method of self harm, wasn't really thinking of that) and just wanted it to inspire people. In this thread I'm trying to show getting a tattoo as a celebration of getting over self harm, because the way I see it it's a work of art (though permanent and maybe somewhat painful :P) that has profound meaning...when used correctly. The thread can stay here though...as it is a thread about tattoos, even if the motive behind them is linked to overcoming self harm and moving on. If anyone else has anything to say it'd be great if you shared. |

*chuckle* Well i haven't thought too much about it yet seeing as I've got a fair wait. I really really love Harry Potter, since I was six years old, so I'm contemplating getting something related to that. *shrug* I'm a bit worried since things that seem awesome can fade, but a lot of the themes and messages in HP apply to real life. Also, it's a big part of my childhood and it brings a lot of meaningful memories around.
A lot of people get the Deathly Hallows but I want something more unique. Wish I could think of something. Also, getting a character/something to represent a character probably isn't all that smart right? I don't know if you're familiar with the chapter art, but I love it so much that I thought about getting one of those tattooed. Specifically the one of Neville because to me it represents strength and warmth despite dark times (because he appears battered yet he's still smiling). He's a character that has traits that I aspire to have - bravery and selflessness, and just lots of kindness. I dunno. It's all just thoughts for now, I've got a few years to wait after all. |
