Piercings

I don't like piercings... They are really gross looking, the only one that i like would be the normal ear piercing.....That's it.
What do you think about piercings???

I'm pretty sure everyone knows I love piercings. I think they're just amazing. In my opinion, they're just another form of art--same with tattoos.

I'm with Cheyenne, I love piercings too
I've got two lobe piercings on each ear and a cartilage piercing right now.
Corset piercings are pretty weird though, but other then that I love them

I absolutely love piercings which is the reason I have 8 piercings and I will probably be getting more. Piercings are a forum of art and self-expression. It's alright if you don't like piercings though. Everyone has different opinions.

They are just kinda weird, because like earings are okaye, but to get them in weird piercings, example the lip......(cheyenne... ) it will just turn out bad. They can get infections and other stuff!

Do you realize that a lot of things we do to our bodies can cause infections? -Including- ear piercings. My mom reluctantly let me get my tongue pierced when I was sixteen and I've had it ever since. You know what people told me when I got it done though? That I would lose all my taste buds and how sick I would get and how bad it would hurt. It didn't hurt, it swelled a bit, never had an infection, no issues. My eyebrow is also pierced, no issues at all. My ears are stretched to a 4g at this point as well, no infections, no harm. SO I don't see how they are icky. As far as your reference to lip rings, my next piercing is going to be a double snake bite. I know numerous people with their lips pierced and their are way worse piercings then that one.

if you get a cut, that can get infected too, as can nails, teeth, and every other part of your body.. Not to mention an earlobe piercing can easily get infected, so doesn't that kind of contradict what you said?

no, but getting a cut is an accident, piercings you do by choice.

As long as you take good care of your piercings, you shouldn't get an infection.

I used to have like, 4 lobe piercings. But two got infected cos I did them myself so I took them out. I've been thinking of repiercing them. I'm also getting snake bite piercings hopefully in the near future.
Corset piercings are the shit. I used to want one, till I found out that they reject reeeeeally fast compared to other surface piercings.
My view is, if you don't like piercings, don't get them.

I'm a professional body piercer, so I definitely like piercings. I have a lot of piercings, and I've had practically every common piercing at some point or another. For some people, the piercing experience can be really spiritual. I like the shock value to a certain extent, and I think it also creates a sense of community between people who have piercings. And for some reason, I kind of just like having metal in my face. It's difficult for me to understand someone not liking them, but hey, we've all got our own opinions. (: I guess you either like them or you don't!

So what? Everything has a risk. There are probably a hundred things that can go wrong and kill people on a daily basis but you don't see people running around wrapped in bubble wrap right? Besides, everyone that gets a piercing already knows about the infection risk so obviously if they're getting a piercing they're ok with that risk.

^ you're completely missing my point. The OP said that she's fine with ear piercings, but other piercings are gross because they can get infected. My point is that lobe piercings can get infected too, so she's contradicting herself.

I love most piercings.
I do however hate the monroe piercing, and I'm not a huge fan of eyebrow piercings, but it does depend on who has it.
To each their own though, everyone has things they don't like.

I think piercings are good for some, and not so good for others.

i don't personally like piercings either. that's not to say i think they're gross or other people shouldn't get them - it's just not for me. i think they look very unprofessional and i wouldn't want to have to take them out for a job then have holes in my face/wherever. for people who can have them without it having a negative impact on their life - that's cool. it's against the rules at my sixth form so i couldn't get piercings even if i wanted to.

I like piercings, but not overly. I like the idea of having loads of piercings in my ears, but not so much in my face ~ although I do think nose piercings and lip piercings can be really hot, especially on other girls. Kind of undecided about my belly button and DEFINITELY never nipples ~ mine are wayyy too sensitive!!

For me it depends on why the person is getting pierced. It's the same as "why get your hair cut/colored?" or "why dress the way you do?". (In my opinion) Behind piercings and tattoos there should be a reason, some sort of meaning to you personally. The kids who get piercings just because everyone else has them and think it'll make them fit in kind of annoy me. I don't care how others perceive my peircings because I have them for myself and myself only.

So if they mean nothing to you, don't do it. If they do, then go for it. Aesthetically, some people get piercings that don't quite suit them physically, but if it fills something emotionally then I think it's awesome.
