Foot tattoo - bad idea? -
March 10th 2011, 04:58 AM
So I've been wanting for a long time to get a tattoo on my foot. It's in memorial of my cousin. It won't be too big; I just want a smallish heart with a purple flower in one side. I really want to get this, like, this week... problem is I live in Michigan, land of snow, so people keep telling me it's a bad idea because you're supposed to not wear shoes for like weeks. Do any of you know if that's true? I can handle not wearing shoes for a few days, and even for the next few weeks I can be barefoot whenever I'm not in class (I'm in college, so I'm only in class for about 3 hours a day tops); will wearing shoes for a couple hours a day really be that much of an issue? I've been trying to research online, but everyone's saying different things. Pleeeease let me know if you know anything. Thank youuuu

not wearing shoes for weeks doesn't make sense for me. when you get a tattoo on your body you don't have to be half naked lol. I would ask the tattoo artist that you're planning on having do the tattoo. They should (emphasis on 'should') be knowledgeable enough to have the right answer for you.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to look up which places around here are reputable and call them tomorrow and see what they'd suggest. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I feel like I should do it. I really don't see it being a huge problem. Besides, there's never really going to be a good time, since in the summer I'm on my feet all day every day in tennis shoes in a greasy restaurant. :P Haha. Thanks for the reply.

With any tattoo you're not supposed to wear clothes that will rub against the tattoo too much. And socks tend to rub against your feet. You can wear shoes, but for the first few weeks I wouldn't wear them for a long time. And the first few days I wouldn't wear them at all.
This is just me saying what I've read on the Internet though, so talking to an artist is still an extremely good idea

it should be okay. I know of people who have tattoos are their feet. They really didn't do anything out of the ordinary. I mean, don't wear socks right after it is done, wait a day or so and you should be fine. Use lotion on it to keep it hydrated and all.
