Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 15th 2011, 04:52 AM

What piercings do you have? And which one hurt the worse to get? Which took the longest to heal (or to no longer feel sore)?

I'm going on the 29th to hopefully, if I don't chicken out, get my tongue pierced. The only other piercings I have are three in each ear lobe. That's it. But I so, so want to get my tongue pierced.

Even if you don't have your tongue pierced, I'd still love to hear about your piercings.

Like I said I only have three in each ear lobe and those were easy, obviously.

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 15th 2011, 05:26 AM

I have:

Four in each lobe
Left cartilage
Navel

None of them really hurt to get pierced. There was a slight pinch for my fourth lobe holes, but that's all.

Healing time:

First three lobes: About 6 weeks.
Cartilage: About 8 weeks.
Belly: A couple months.
Fourth lobe holes: Not sure yet, but the original earring fell out of the left ear and I lost the ball that goes to the barbell, so I went ahead and changed both. They aren't healed yet. I've had them for about 2 weeks.

To no longer feel sore:

First three lobes: A couple weeks.
Cartilage: 8 months (but that's probably because I got it pierced with a gun. BAD IDEA)
Belly: A week or so but it did hurt on and off for a few months if it got bumped.
Fourth lobes: A week maybe?

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 15th 2011, 11:14 AM

I've had my eyebrow, lip done about 5 times and my tongue done. All of them only hurt for a second, sort of like a pinch when he did it and afterwards obviously they were a little swollen and sore but in a week or so, they'd gone down and were fine. With my tongue, it was a little hard to eat because well, it's my tongue but soon enough you start to forget it's even there.

The only one that hurt a bit more was when I got scaffolding, he went through one side then straight through the other so it was a little bit more of a pinch and it was the longest to heal/sorer for longest because I'd sometimes sleep on that side and occasionally it'll bleed a little but it eventually healed & didn't hurt at all.

I had a tongue, and eyebrow piercing. I figured to myself. that I look extremely ugly in piercings. So I took them out, and they closed up. I have been wanting to get my lip pierced, but I decided not to. Once again for the reason that I don't think I can pull it off.

I've only got two lobe piercings which healed pretty fast and they did sort of hurt but thats probably just because I don't like guns
My cartilage barely hurt and its still healing. They take awhile haha

On my left ear I have two lobes and my right ear I have three lobes. I'm getting a conch and snug once soccer ends, and a tragus once I'm 18. None of the lobes hurt at all minus my third lobe piercing because it was partly in the lobe and partly in cartilage. It also burned a bit and pinched, mostly due to the fact that I got it done at Claire's where they use bad stuff to sanitize and use piercing guns. Do not ever get your piercings done there because you're more likely to have problems with it since they can't properly sterilize guns and they use them on tons of people. It's like your hands-- you wash them, but they touch lots of things and can transfer and get diseases and whatnot.

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 18th 2011, 02:36 AM

I have my nose pierced, 3 on my lobes and two cartilage, I have had my tragus and navel pieced too but taken them out.
Which was the most painful... my nose or my tragus.
But if you want something done you'll focus on how it will look once it's done and not the pain it causes to get it.
I prefer getting tatts to piercings if I'm honest.

I've had my nose (just had to take it out), ears, two in my lip and now I have a microdermal by my eye. I have to say my nose was the most painful.

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 20th 2011, 07:01 AM

I have 5 piercings, all on my ears:
Left: 3 lobes + 1 cartilage
Right: 1 lobe

None of them hurt for an extended period of time. I think it helped that I got all my piercings done with needles at a professional piercing shop. The lobes didn't hurt at all, even while they were just healing. My 3rd lobe is pretty close to the cartilage region, so switching the earring hurt a bit at first, but nothing major (: The cartilage hurt more than the lobes. It was sort of red and definitely swollen for the first 2-3 days. After that, it hurt when I accidently touched it or when my hair/clothes got caught on it. It has been 3.5 weeks since I got my cartilage piercing, and I can sleep on that side now (:

Basically, the healing times:
Lobes: okay after a few days / didn't change earring until ~1 month later to be safe
Cartilage: okay after ~3 weeks / still haven't tried changing the barbell - I'm going to wait a few more weeks to be safe (:

I have ear piercing. 2 on each year, and they didn't hurt all that much.
I also have a nose piercing, which did take quite a bit to heal.

There wasn't really much pain when they were pierced, just the time from the piercing till it completely healed, it was pretty soar and ofcourse, I had to be a little careful with it.

I have 14, 8 in my ears, lip, 2 in my tounge, 2 in my bellybutton and nipple.

They didnt hurt because aneasthetic was used. The whole area was numb and I didnt feel a thing.

I have 2 holes in each ear and my tounge pierced. I used to have my lip, nose, eyebrow, and belly button done. The only one that hurt was my nose and it only hurt for a few seconds except when it would get snagged on my hair or a wash cloth or something, that hurt.

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 22nd 2011, 08:47 AM

I only have piercings on my ears ~ my lobes, wich didn't hurt at all, and cartilage, two on the right and one on the left (supposed to be one for each six months I've been free of cutting, but I'm always a little behind!!) The first cartilage piercing I didn't feel at all, and the second one not much either, until it got infected because the stud he put in was too tiny. The third one, on my left ear, hurt like an absolute mofo because he did it with a needle and not a gun, which is safer but more painful.

Total Piercings: 17
-Ears x 7 each
-Bellybutton
-Tongue
-Monroe

Least Pain: Tongue
Most Pain: Monroe

Longest healing time: Catilidge of ears or bellybutton

Tongue, it feels kinda like you bit your tongue. Lots of cold water and ice cream...don't try eating solid food for a few days (tried to eat spagetti an hour later-didn't work very well!) Takes maybe a week for swelling to go down.

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 23rd 2011, 11:27 AM

I only have my ears because I am way too scared of needles and the pain part kinda scares me. Which I know is weird.
My ears were done when I was 11 or 12 but they closed up, so when I was about 14 I redid them myself. With a lot of ice and just literally pushing and twisting an earring until it finally went through.
I don't advise it. It hurt SO much and the right one was constantly infected and has pretty much closed up now.

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 27th 2011, 03:16 PM

Hahah I have too many so I will break them down.

For pain I will put them on a scale of 1-10 (one being least of course)

Ears (x10 all together) - 2 - Healing was about two months.
Nose - 8 - Healing was around six months. Still hurts though when you accidently pull it out...
Lip - 3 (did it myself) - Healed in like two weeks.
Eyebrow - 4 - I took it out when I got it in because it was bleeding so much it scared me...now I know that's normal lol
Smiley - 4 (did it myself) - Just did it a few days ago so still healing, but around two weeks I heard.
Nipples (both done) - 9.5 - They were sooooo sore for the first four days, but then about two months. Cause I think mine are healed lol.
Belly button (x2) - 4 -Healed in six months, but I messed around with them changed them out too soon...now they are both healing again.

As for the tongue. I'm doing mine myself in May haha. But people I asked they said the piercing itself doesn't really hurt, it's the healing and swelling afterwards. So I think you should be fine!

Re: Piercings and pain... Let's be honest. - March 31st 2011, 03:18 AM

Well, I did it. I got my tongue pierced yesterday. It wasn't too, too bad, but it was definitely bad enough. Hahah. But I do think that a lot of it was because I was nervous as all hell. I seriously almost passed out before he even started to get everything ready for the piercing. But it's doing good now... I'm talking a little funny, but I'm getting better. I just can't wait until the soreness and swelling is gone.
