I know I'm only 14, but when I'm 15 my parents said I could get a nose piercing or my cartalige (i know i spelled that wrong
) pierced...i love the way nose studs look, but I don't know how much of a hassle that'll be? Or how much either of them will hurt...like, long term. which one should I go with...and if you don't mind, why? thanks guys

I don't have my ear carts done but I do have a nose stud. It doesn't hurt long term. It really isn't a hassel at all having it done. All though there are different type of studs, you have L studs and you have screw studs. Me personally after your able to change your piercing stud which is done with a screw stud I went to L studs, for me they are just easier to change if you like to change them a lot.
Thats really the only hassel I have with them really because I have screw stud in right now because I lost my L stud and can't find my pack of other ones. Also make sure you clean the inside of your nose a lot too because buggers like to attach themselves on the inside of the stud and they can build up and it will be difficult to breath out of one side of your nose! Always remember to put your happiness first.

Well your nose is a very sensitive place so it will probably not hurt or will it very little when you actually have it done because its one tiny poke and they are done but after it will probably hurt anywhere from half an hour to two hours with that kinda burning feeling you get when you hit your ear really hard.
Mine hurt for much longer because that same day I accidently ripped it out when I was changing my shirt. So be very careful. Always remember to put your happiness first.

Have you got any piercings already? They generally don't hurt too much besides the initial piercing as long as long as you're careful not to bother the area.
Two of my friends have gotten their cartilage pierced recently. They told me it was like a little prick. I'm looking forward to getting mine done soon! Good luck. |

It depends what you look like, not everyone suits nose piercings. Ask your friends for their honest opinion.
As for pain, cartilage piercings aren't particularly painful at all. I've never had my nose pierced but my best friend has and she seemed to think it was alright. |

I've gotten my ears double pierced before, and neither of them hurt more than a pinch and a little bit sore.
So, final question: Nose piercing pains on a scale from 1-10 (10 being horribly painful, 1 being mehh) and when does it most hurt? (when they pierce it, after they do it) "It doesn't matter if you're gay, straight, purple, orange, dinosaur-I don't care" --Darren Criss

Id say 4 and I have a very low tolerance of pain.
I would say it hurts more after, not during. Durring just feel like a pinch. After your nose swells and because the swelling its tries to push the piercing out and it just sorts of burn. Like when you hit your ear Always remember to put your happiness first.

My friend got her nose done and she said it was nothing and she has zero pain tolerance haha.
I have three cart piercings in my ears and they were sore for a little while but we did it with a home piercing gun and I did two on one ear and one on the other all at the time. They hurt like crap if someone bumps them for about the first..week or so. After that it isn't that bad. It hurts when you have to turn them too. Even now if I sleep weird I'll wake up and it'll hurt but it's been like... four months and cart takes around 6 to heal, so I've heard. Haha (: hope you like what you get! Hey there,
Well I would say if you are going by pain and not which one you prefer, I'd go with the nose piercing. I have my industrial (left side), right cartilidge piercing, tragus, and nose done. My nose was by far the least painful, I got it done in april and it is already healed, doesnt hurt and I can change the piercing, your cardilidge will take much longer heal ( fully between 6 - 12 months). Nose is easier to manage, there is really no chance of hitting it, bumping it, brushing against it ( except watch getting dressed, shirts). It is easier to take care of, and less painful for your first real piercing. Whichever one you choose make sure to take very very good care of it, infections and piercing rejections suck majorly. Good luck with whichever you choose.Hope you enjoy your new piercing ![]() -Tessa "You're never gonna spread your disease,So take your hands off of me"

Re: Nose stud -

I've had both, I had my nose for a longer time than cartilidge though. In my experience, I have a normal or semi-low tolerance for pain, and keep in mind I did both of these myself (not recommended). The nose hurt for me getting it pierced because well I wasn't a professional and it took 4 hours for me to push the needle all the way through, but after it was done, it didn't hurt at all and I had to change it the same day a few hours afterwards to correct jewelry instead of the earring stud I put in. So I'd say if you got it done professional it'd be a 0-2 depending on how you take pain and afterwards a 3 at the most and only for a few hours. Now the cartilidge, that hurt so bad, both when I pierced it and when it was healing after. I couldn't even sleep on my left side at all because it would hurt my ear too much and even after I decided to let it close it hurt for a few days after, also cartilidge piercings can be very bad because if it gets infected your cartilidge can basically turn to mush and well, it's not pretty and sometimes if not all times won't heal correctly. Basically I would say nose is the least painful and best in the long run, actually I'm going to get my re-done but professionally after I turn 15 and can get it done legally here.

Re: Nose stud -

I have both done.
My helix (ear cartilage) hurt way worse than my nose...probably because my nose piercing is a smaller guage. one thing I can tell you though is go get it done at a legit, clean, reputable piercing shop. many tattoo shops also have piercers, you just have to ask around. pay the extra money (my nose ring cost me 80 bucks...my ear cartilage was 50) because you get what you pay for. If you go to claires and get them to pierce it with a gun for 30 dollars, you'll have problems. Seriously. My cartilage got pierced at claires and it got really swollen, but because the post was so small and not proper piercing jewelry, it hurt like crazy and I had to take it out because it was getting gross. so then I let it grow in and I got it done again properly and don't have the same issue. My nose I got done properly and it was so good. Only thing I can tell you about nose piercing is that you start crying. Whenever something happens to your nose, your eyes water. It will most likely be the eye on the side of the piercing but mine both watered. Mine bled a lot too haha. Liquids coming out of everywhere! However, I have had my nose pierced for almost a year now. It happens really quickly. For me, it only hurt for a couple of minutes and I got a little sick feeling, but after that I was completely fine. However, if you do get a nose piercing, I can tell you that you have to be sure you take care of it. For the first six to eight weeks, you have to clean it twice a day. Piercers will recommend that you get some fancy solution, but I used contact solution and it worked just fine. After it's healed (6-8 weeks), you should still clean it from time to time to keep it from getting infected. I've had a couple infections and trust me, they are not fun...and they're gross. So after it heals, just keep an eye on it and make sure you clean it when you notice it's getting crusty and such (or if a tiny white bubble starts to form). |

Nose hurts like a bitch, but I suppose it depends on your pain tolerance really, some people I know said it didn't hurt at all, some said it slightly hurt but for me it like killed. they shove this metal tube up your nose (so the needle doesn't go into the hard bit of your nose or something) then they put the needle through. Your eyes water because it hits a nerve or something, but yeah. And also if it gets infected it's terrible. But apart from that, it's a pretty neat piercing. n_n
