Nose Re-Piercing - August 14th 2011, 10:46 AM

Well basically just over a year ago I pierced my nose, very stupidly I might add, with a safety pin at 2 a.m. It took me 4 hours because I went slow, again very stupid. And then to top off that stupidity I used a lock back earring stud meaning it was not a smooth post it has little inverted ridges in it. Obviously a bad idea all together however my parents let me keep it and when claire's opened we went down and bought some cheap studs. My dad learned to accept it (Long story short: I live with mom and aunt (parents) and dad lives in nevada, left when I was 2 months old.) And for my birthday that year he got me some stuff including nose studs. So I have a shit load of nose studs.

I just turned 15 and there is a piercing shop that I can get any face piercing (within reason) with parent permission. I'm considering getting the monroe but I have that shit load of nose studs, oh and let me explain. It was healing fine, no infections, (I got very lucky because I suck with cleaning piercings but I've gotten better) but I took it out because it would hurt when I would go to change it (product of me not cleaning it well). Basically I was talking with my aunt today asking if I should get the monroe or my nose re-done. She thought a monroe would look really nice and I agree.

But I want my nose done, and then she said, not me, but she said, "Well you could always do it yourself again," (Mind you she's 55 and the strict parent, I mean the sometimes so strict she gets abusive) And basically if it's fine by mom (It may be, we'll see), she'll let me buy a sterilized piercing needle and all the stuff I need, etc... to do it.

Not really sure why I'm posting this, obviously I'll get a lot of "Don't that's bad" etc... and I will any way if mom agrees. (Oh and dad doesn't know I let it heal but Idc about his opinion anyway, he's been gone for 14 years) I guess I just wanted to share... Idk. I'm sorta glad my aunt suggested it because then I can get the proper equipment I didn't have before. Last time I used a safety pin, alcohol and earring. Now I will have sterilized hollow piercing needle, cork and correct nose jewelry and all for a total of $3. Please no "Don't do it!!!!!" comments because I probably will anyway, especially since I have 50% ok to right now and within the next 3 months most likely 100% okay on it.

Well I think you would look cute with either one so its all about preference. I think the monroe will hurt less, and its probably easier to take care of. However when you get a job they might let you keep a nose piercing in, but they may not accept a monroe piercing. Just something to think about.
I'm glad your going to be safe the next time you pierce it

Thank you Nicole, and yeah, around here I see a ton of teens with snake bites or a lip piercing and all the job requires them to do is take of the outer screw on head but they can keep the stem of the jewelry in. And thanks, I take that as a compliment that you think I would look cute with either. I'm not sure which will be first but I'm hoping to get at least one if not both before school starts on the 22nd, and it's more likely to do the $3 nose piercing, because getting the monroe will cost $25+.

Just make sure to get it on opposite sides. If its on the same side I think it looks a bit silly

Oops. Forgot to mention that. Yes, it's on opposite sides. Nose is on the left, monroe is on the right

I know you said not to say "dont' do it" but I'm going to say it. Don't pierce it by yourself. You can do it at a shop and it will be straight, quick, professional, and safe/sterile.

There's one more thing you forgot to mention though Jennifer: expensive. My family barely makes enough to pay the bills, rent and put food on the table, I have to save up for the monroe already, and let me say, being 15, no place will hire because they are big corporations. So getting the money for the monroe was hard enough, I9 refuse to double that price to get a nose piercing. Sorry. I refuse to pay $30+ for something I can do for $3 when we are already strapped for cash...

WOOHOO! I just got my monroe a few hours ago, so happy. First time getting a professional piercing and I was so nervous, it hurt less than I actually expected.
