HELP, LIP PIERCING?! - August 19th 2011, 06:47 AM

well i have had many piercings before, and i got another the other day because it was cheep, so it was $40 but the back of the piercing is starting to moving into my lip, and the skin is making room for it, so if it keeps happening the skin will probs grow over the backing of the piercing,
and help or advice or people who have heard this happen?

That is a common problem for lip piercings, my suggestion is to go talk to your piercer, they can do something to try to prevent it from happening further and tell you some other things to help keep it from happening, maybe they can switch you to a ring.

Go back to your piercer. They may give you another back or tell you what to do to prevent it or make it bearable.

It happened to me with an infection I got in the piercing and I couldn't get it off or out and I had to go back and that was a process I did not want to go through. So if you don't want to go through something painful, go to your piercer and see what needs to be done.

Just because you have other piercings doesn't mean your lip area doesn't like the piercing, it seems like its rejecting it.

This means the piercer didn't use a long enough labret bar to accommodate the swelling. You have to go back and get a longer one placed otherwise the skin will grow over it and it will not be fun to cut out.

Sweet_Venom: While it is true that captive beads are better for your gums down the road, along with bioflex materials, it is not good to put captive beads or circular barbells in when piercing the lip. Straight labret barbells are the way to go for this. That's the only thing we use at my shop and the way 99.9% of piercers do it.

Do it ASAP. This happened to my friend and she didn't go right away. The piercings wound up getting stuck in her lip, and they had to surgically remove them.
